A friend of my DH's just got engaged and they sent the engagment party invitation with their registry information. Is this normal?
TIA, Kelly

Re: Poll - Tacky or Par for the Course
Etiquette says not to expect gifts at an engagement party (although we all do), so to put the registry info in the invite is tacky, in my opinion.

I think the only time its ok to include the registration info is with your shower invites

IMO it's really tacky to include registry info for your engagement party-that's for the shower.

I don't think it should be included with the engagement party invite.
In our case we didn't include it, but FMIL was the person everybody RSVP'd to and she told everyone we were registered (which we didn't want). Oh well.

Totally Tacky!
To me it's like saying... I got a ring buy me a gift.

I don't see a problem with it. Most guests will bring a gift anyway, this will help them to pick out something the couple wants. IMO if you're having an e-party you're asking for gifts anyway.

I agree with this statement. Fact is if you are having an engagement party people are going to bring gifts.

I agree. Just as it's not etiquette to put registry info with your wedding invite, I feel the same about e-parties. of course people will bring gifts, but to include the registry card is tacky, IMO.

i think if they sent out their own invites its incredibly tacky, if someone is throwing the party for them, its not as bad. fbil got an eparty invite w/ registry info in it and i thought it was really tacky...jmo

Not with the engagement party invite...our parents just offered that info if people asked for it

Re: Poll - Tacky or Par for the Course
I don't think it's appropriate....when my sister had her party, she did not include them. However, people did call the house and ask if she registered so that they could buy a gist off the registry. I won't have my registry set up by the time I send out my invites, but even if I did, I would not include that information with the invitation.

I think its a little tacky. Whoever does the RSVPs should take those questions. Usually that is what they do.

I didn't think it was tacky......do what you are comfrtable with...each is a different situation...I have a lot of out of town family on both sides so this was helpful for the family...

Tacky! Its too much for people to be EXPECTED to pay for an engagement gift, shower gift, and then wedding gift. If they CHOOSE to do it, then its different. but to expect it is tacky, IMO

Re: Poll - Tacky or Par for the Course
We had friends that did this and I think that it is extremely tacky. I purposely did not buy them a gift from the registry for that reason.
