A friend of my DH's just got engaged and they sent the engagment party invitation with their registry information. Is this normal?

Etiquette says not to expect gifts at an engagement party (although we all do), so to put the registry info in the invite is tacky, in my opinion.

I was just about to write this.

Etiquette says invitations should never mention gifts with the exception of the shower. Everyone is going to bring a gift anyway but you aren't suppossed to expect it.

I always heard it was tacky so I didn't do it but everyone was calling me after the got the invite to ask me where I registered and how come it wasn't with the invitation becouse it would have been easier for them.
