we have talked about- it was his idea- and maybe for an anniversay-
So have we, it'll probably be upgraded for an anniversary down the road.

I love my E-ring and it has such sentimental value for me. So right now I say never, but who knows how you will feel on your XXth Anniversary when he surprises you with an upgrade? Thats just as special too!!
My aunt married my uncle twice, they got married the 1st time when they were 20. Then got divorced 14 yrs later and remarried 4 yrs later. Her first ring was like a 1/4 karat, the second e-ring she has now is 1.5 karat. She still has the first ring he gave her and it will always have sentimental value, but she jokes and says the first time was for love and the 2nd time was for money!!
So you never know if your mind will change or events in your lives will change - not insinuating anyone is going to get a divorce!! Different strokes for different folks!!

I love my ring.. this is the setting we first picked early on in our relationship and I was shocked that he remembered it when he bought it all that time later.. The center stone was a little smaller than I originally picked but now that I have it.. I wouldn't want anything else.. it's perfect!!

FH has said he would let me upgrade whenever I want, but I would never want to change it...He picked it and it's perfect.

I have the same setting. He upgraded the center stone. He came into some money and surprised me.

we got all of our rings at zales and they have an upgrade program there so I probably would upgrade to something a little bigger at each milestone anniversary. totally up to FH though when or if we do decide to do it.

these questions are making me feel really upset. I feel like there is a lot of negative judgement being passed toward the women who would upgrade their rings, as if we do not appreciate what we were given.
edited to add: I guess I am not understanding the question correctly. I certainly wouldn't go shopping one day and just come home with a new diamond. But, if DH gave me an upgrade as a gift, I would LOVE it!
My parents are divorced. My mother gave me the e-ring that my father gave her. I am having the stone set into a pendant. Does that mean that I don't love nor appreciate my father?
This is how i feel. I wouldnt ASK for an upgrade but if on an anniversary/holiday/bday Matt gives me a new ring, I wouldnt object. I would prob wear the original on my right hand or something. I do LOVE my e-ring and it does go perfectly w. the wedding band i want, but hey, more diamonds never killed anyone

I may eventually change my setting. It's a solitaire setting and my wedding band is diamonds; for an anniversary or something I might like to get a setting with some diamonds on the side to match the w-band.
