POLL: What day/time are you getting married?

Original post by bluegreen08

Just curious what the breakdown is.

My prediction is

Sat night - most popular
Fri night - second most popular
Sun afternoon - third most popular

we'll see

I'm Jewish and Jews aren't supposed to get married on Shabbat, so Sunday for us!

My rabbi is not super strict, so on Saturdays in August he will typically do the kettubah signing around 6:30/6:45, so the ceremony can start right after. I was worried about that too at first, because having a ceremony start at 8 or after just seemed really late.

It really depends on the rabbi. I am also getting married on a saturday night, and my rabbi will travel before sundown, we are getting married between 730 and 8

well ceremony is 2:30 but reception starts at 7:30...im guessing you are talking about reception, if so the answer is saturday night

denise what are you doing in between your ceremony and the reception? are you going somewhere to take pics? my ceremony at the church is 3pm and the reception starts at 7:30p so i am in the same boat. but OWG isnt open during dec

Saturday evening, I think FI and I were open to anything, but his parents went to a fortune teller and they picked out the time and date that we needed to get married. Traditions! haha

I agree -- I didn't really care that much about starting early but my dad is the one who really cares a lot (and I guess a lot of older family members would too) so we opted for Sunday instead of an 8:30++ start.

We decided on a Friday night. I was a little bummed at first because I always wanted to have my wedding on a Saturday night (it was just out of the budget) but everybody keeps telling me Friday is like a party night.

My wedding is on a Thursday night @ 6:30
Im a little nervous because a couple of people have complained to me. But I told them if they cant make it me and FH will understand. But all my vendors have been giving a good price for being on a Thursday . Because they are not very busy that day. so I was really happy about that.

well i figure by the time we leave the church it will be around 3:30 or a little later. We are going to the city after and taking pictures there so i figure 2 hours there to take pics and then around 6:30 start heading back.

I think a couple ppl suggested the vanderbilt museum(i think thats the name) for inside pics in LI, maybe you should check it out

The same applies no matter what day you get married...those who love you and are happy for you and want to share in your special day will make arrangements to be there.

Good for you for your respoonse to the people that complained.

I'm getting married Sunday of memorial day weekend. The cermony start 6 and the party ends at 11:30. Hopefully many people will have Memorial Day off. We are then having an after party for all of the young people.

Sunday night. I think 7 then the reception like 8:30ish? We haven't gotten anywhere near that far LOL it's at the same place so it's not a huge deal.
