POLL -- What do you think?

POLL -- What do you think?

SO my FH and I have been trying to come up with a favor that would be both nice and useful. We were originally going to go with candy but decided we wanted to do something a little different and didn't want to do anything like the wine bottles (even though they are beautiful) but neither of our families are big wine drinkers. So we were talking and came up with this....

At the wedding putting on people's plates or tables something that says something to the effect of 'You will be receiving your DVD favor in approxiamtly 6 weeks' of course the wording would be different and nicer, elegant, etc.

Then a soon as we got our proofs make a mini movie (my mom has this cool program on her computer and add music) then burn these on to a DVD and then mail them out (most likely with the THank You card)

We would also print labels with our pictures on it and the date.

Do you think its bad not to give a favor out the night of wedding? I'm pretty excited for this and we figured that it would be less that $3 per household including postage.

Please give me your honest opinion!

It sounds like a lot of work but if you're up to it then I'm sure your guests would like it. I would be careful mailing DVD's though, I've never done it before, I guess you would have to get special mailing packages for that as well.

I love it! It's a lot of work though...but if you have the time I'd do it!

They have bubble mailers that you can send a dvd with a case. My DH does it all the time for e-bay.

Wedding favors are very tricky. They need to be something useful, yes, so how useful is the DVD?
It's very original, however how many times are your family and friends going to look at it? Once maybe twice, and then it's a coaster.

I really don't even want to give out favors, but some people go to weddings just to bring home at the little chachkas (sp). In this scenario, they are still leaving without something.

I would suggest doing the DVD AS the thank you, maybe doing a live thank you at the wedding, saving it and making that into the DVD so they can see you guys on your wedding day all dressed up saying thank you to all the guests.

You'll find something original for the favor.

I don't think most people will appreciate a DVD with your proofs on it, it sounds to personal. JMHO

Why don't you make a music cd?

I have actually thought about doing that for a few people and including it in their thank you notes.

I thinks it's a great idea.

I agree. Honestly I dont like that they wont be getting a favor that night. Plus I think it would be wasted on most people. Its a cute idea to send with the thank yous to close family and the bp but I think for a favor you should give something they can use. If you have alot of older guests they might not even have dvd players or know how to use one.
I know unless it was a really close friend or family member I would probably never even watch it.

i agree.. im up in the air about favors, and your idea sounds great, maybe for the close people in your life.. its too much for all your guests....

if you make the music CD yourself with songs close to you, your wedding song, and dance music you def will play - the guests should love and actually use it...GOOD LUCK

I agree. When I was planning my own wedding, I just assumed that everyone would want all kinds of pictures of us. I even gave out the frames in addition to the wedding favors...only to visit several people's homes to see OTHER photos in my frames

That's when I realized that from now on (Christenings, other special events), I will only give photos/DVD's to the immediate family members. Other people just don't appreciate those personalized things.

edited to add: if you have guests with children over the age of 15, they should receive their own favor if they attend your wedding.
