Do what will make you happy and your wedding unique. Personally I like how it looks having the nice placecards and holders set up on a table when you walk in.

I love doing things differently and being unique. However, this idea would depend on the size of your wedding. I see a mass of people grouped around it trying to figure out their table. They'd have to look at the whole thing to see where they are and that would take a while. Unless you're having less than 100 people, I don't see it working well.

I'm doing a seating board as well and doing away with the placecards. Going to have it made up on the website documentsanddesigns.com

I think its a great idea...(they had it in 4 weddings and a funeral as well)
a few girls have done it here...I would get their suggestions...since they had ideas for avoiding bottlenecking

I'm all for switching things up a bit and letting your personality come through instead of tradition (unless that's your personality! ). I love this idea...I do think you need to take some things into consideration - like the size of your wedding, maybe having the maitre'd hold a copy so that s/he could help 'direct traffic', etc.
Didn't MarcellaBella do this for her wedding? Maybe Theresa (Ronnie&Theresa) or tarainkspa (?) could let you know how it worked out...IF I'm remembering correctly that Marcella did this.

Man..Im out of the loop..I LOVE this idea.ive never even heard of it!! I want to do it! Can anyone tell em what kind of paper it goes on, where do you put it, how big is it usually? I am very interested!! VERY VERY interested! We are having a very small wedding, probably 70- 75. It would be perfect for me!!!!!Can anyone tell me more? PLEASE!!!!!

I definitely like them (AliciaHelene - I've seen them online - they cost $200ish but bet you can do it yourself cheaper and have it blown up). My only concerns are: You must have to know where everyone is siting way ahead of time b/c how can you make last minute changes, the bottleneck someone mentioned, and if you put it out earlier to avoid bottlenecking, would people forget their table number? That being said, I'm sure it works out b/c I think that is what they must have at most British weddings (my very authoritative source: as someone just mentioned, in Four Weddings & a Funeral Hugh Grant's character looks at the board and sees he is sitting with all his exes).

I went to a wedding that had this. It was very pretty and really worked for them because there wasn't a logical place for a place card table from what I could see. And it was a rather large wedding too and there was no problem finding our seats.

I looked on teh documents and designs web site..mine would be 150. I emailed it to my mom because shes really good with making things, I am hoping this may be something we could do ourselves. Does anyone know how big the actual poster is? And what does it rest up against. Im sorry if my questions sound dumb..I have just never seen this before..I really like it. I need all of teh help I can get. If I did this myself, where would I be able to blow it up at? HELLLLLLLPPPP!!! Thanks so much you guys! Just when I think Ive got all my plans just about ready..I learn about more great things from you all!!!!

If I'm not mistaken, when my mom called up documentsanddesigns.com and told them we were having approximately 175 guests, they told her the chart would be around 20' X 23'. We would have to get a custom made frame, but I've seen these for less than $100.00.
