I just did a search on this and found that marcellabella did this and diamondgirly. I read that lindas lovelies has these charts. So I am going to call, because Ive heard that Linda is so great to work with. The girls i think who have done this put it up during the cocktail hour and it wsa suggested to maybe out up a few. It can rest on an easel. I love this!! I feel silly that Ive never even heard about it. Im going to do it though.

WOW! That is really nice! I have been racking my brain to do something different for the placecards! Couldn't you make it up yourself on the computer in like WORD or something and just blow it up and print it on really nice paper?

i did it myself with help from my mom. we used adobe page maker to create the chart, then my mom printed it on a poster printer at her work. we did two seating assignmenet charts. i'll take a pic tonight and post. we did two charts so people didn't all crowd around one. it came out wonderfully!

WOW!!! Thankyou so much..I would love it if you could post the pictures!!! Thankyou!! I dont know where I could get it blown up though..my mom has a nice printer, but i dont know if it can do poster size. I only have 75 guests most likely, so maybe I can a bit smaller, but Im not sure how to get it big. Where would I buy the easel? Thanks so much everyone for your help!!

Oh, I forgot - my cousin did something similar...instead of one chart, she used two. She divided them by sides - hers & his...which helped prevent any bottlenecking issues.

someone may have already answered this, but I've heard these are very nice and classy, but only if you have around one hundred guest, if you have more than that I've heard it gets confusing and crowded. I do like the idea though!

dumb question.. has anyone done a combination of both. I mean you name your tables, have a chart, then have a simple card at each table naming the table like 'Maple' in big bold classy writing, then underneath, rename those at the table?
Just curious.

Alicia,
The batteries in my digital camera need to be recharged so DH is charging them now. I will take the pic tomorrow and post then. Sorry for the wait.
As for the easels, my hall had them but before I knew that I went to Michael's and bought table top easels. They were gold in color so I spray painted them black. The charts rested on table tops so people could read them easily.
BTW, I had about 150 guests. With two charts, no one had any problems.
I think you could get it blown up at any Kinko's. That's what I was planning on doing until my mom told me she had a poster printer at work.
I'll post the pics tomorrow!

Emdonlon..I really appreciate you taking the time out to post pictures!!! And thanks for your advice too! Ill call my reception place and see if they have easels. I only have about 75 guests, so i was thinking of doing a few charts at 13x 19. My moms printer can do that size and that may even be too big. Im just not sure that Im talented enough to make it myself..as far as the lettering, etc. But I can start playing with it now to get a feel. I love this idea...I cant wait to do it!! Thanks again!!!!

I love these ideas. I used the placecandles instead of traditional cards. I do suggest having 2 or 3 of them though, so no line forms.

I agree about the size of a wedding. I had a friend who had 66 people at her wedding and it worked very nicely. But I've been at one that had over 100 and it was crowded. My advice. If you have a large wedding and really want it then have more than one displayed so you can break up the crowd.
I personally like the placecard idea myself as well just because it's another memento of the wedding.

Alicia,
Here are some pics of my seating arrangements. FH took the pics yesterday, but I couldn't get onto LIWeddings last night to post them. Sorry this took so long.
As for easels, if your reception hall doesn't have them, you can do what I did. I bought table top easles from Michael's and spray painted them black, and it looked fine.

Why not do both? A lot of the cards get out of order or the 'husband' takes the card and the 'wife' has no idea where they are sitting.

Yup, I got the frames at Michaels. Glad you like the claddagh. We had a claddagh theme for the wedding, and my mom found that image online. I loved it. We used Adobe PageMaker. I'm sure you could do the same thing with PrintShop. I haven't seen PrintShop since the 80s so I don't know, but I'm sure you can. Glad you like it and glad it helped!!

You did help!! You were a HUGE help!! I just called my reception place and they have the standing easels as well as one table easel. So maybe Ill do one standing and one table. I have to see how big Kinkos can blow one up. I have maybe 75 guests, so that isnt very many, can I ask another question..do you list each name individually or by couple, for example my mom and dad: would I list them as Mr. & Mrs in one line or does each perosn have their own line? You have been a lifesaver helping me with this..I knew nothing about it a few days agao..and now Im ready to do it!!! THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!
