In my family, it's always been the MOB and the MOH, so in my case, it will be my sister and my mom.

Mine was kind of a mix. My sister, MOH, planned the shower and she and my BM were 'supposed' to pay for it. She had asked each of them for $150 and she was putting in like $500. Well after agreeing to this amount, one BM said she would only put in $50 and two others said they would only put in $100 each. So then they were $200 short. With all of the little things that came up they wound up $400 short. My mom and MIL were going to split it, but FMIL insisted that she wanted to put in the difference. I wound up helping to pay for favors and I even addressed my own invitations. My BM really let me down on my shower.

Well it was supposed to be my mom and sisters with my bm's chipping in a small portion. Now my mom isnt helping my sister and my bms are broke so I may wind up paying what my mom was supposed to

As far as I know I think its my sisters who are 3 out of the 7 of my bridesmaids. In all the wedding parties I've been in, its been equally divided between all the bridesmaids.
* Except for my sisters, where all her friends told me they couldn't affford it, and I ended up footing the majority of the bill.

I come from a very traditional Italian family, and moms usually pay the whole, however I am a BM for a friend and her mom is asking for contributions, whatever we can afford...

Technically, the shower is not meant to be thrown by the MOB because it looks like she's throwing a party just for her daughter to get gifts. It's supposed to be thrown by other females outside of the immediate family- that can mean BP members, aunts, MOG, etc... Everyone does it differently, that's just what I've read in ettiquette books.

I read the same thing. My BP threw mine for me, mainly consisting of my high school sisters. they were so proud of the party that they threw though

My mother paid for the restaurant and the MOH and BM paid for the rest (decorations, gift, cake, etc.)
