I never asked for a specific ring but about 2 years before he even proposed we had gone to look at rings and I pointed out a couple that I thought were nice. He choose out the ring on his own and it is exactly what I always wanted.

We sat down one night and looked through a catalogue of E-rings and when she was like.. 'I think that's a pretty ring'.. I couldn't get that exact ring.. it was major $$$$$.

But I was able to find one VERY similar.

Bottom line -- She was happy.
And that's what counts.

I told him plain solitare was my favor. The only thing I told him, IF he went that way I wanted a tulip setting and six prongs not four. He pretty much did what I asked.

i didn't want a ring (my dad actually tried to talk FH out of it), FH insisted on it...

we met half way. we looked around, FH got an idea what i liked (so did i as i had no clue either), and surprised me in the end. i had to keep him in check $$$-wise as i personally would rather have a roof over my head than a rock on my finger...

but now that i have it, i love it!

We shopped for my stone together, only because I knew more about diamonds.

He chose the setting...all I told him was 'Nothing Gaudy!'

I got a beautiful round with a princess on either side & 1 baugette outside of those.

I LOVE it! (And I do give him ALL the credit to anyone who asks...except you guys!)

originally i was telling him various ones i liked to give ideas... then i realized it would be easier to just take him with me to the jewelry store i worked at pick it out with him and get the good discount

All I wanted was a Heart Shape Stone. And he did it and picked an even better ring then I could have ever picked! I love it.

I picked it out completly...FH begged me too! I would have rather the surprise, he cannot stand to buy sneakers on his own, this one was way bigger then that...

money was tight and so my grandmother offered her ring to us...DH went to go see it and she said to take it if he liked it and give it to her (me) when you are ready! It's a beautiful ring.....tiffany style setting in yellow gold, 1.25 carat diamond with another .25 in baguettes on either side...very classic and very sentimental

I never outright told him what kind of ring I wanted- I kind of hinted at it. The ring I got was nowhere NEAR what I wanted, but it is beautiful, and I wouldn't change it for the world!

The only thing I asked for is a round stone in a white gold setting. I did tell him I would rather have a smaller stone as long as the quailty was good rather than getting a big stone and it is poor quailty.

He didn't really listen

I showed him a couple of pictures of rings & settings that I liked. My ring is not what I would have picked out myself, my FH picked it out and that is more important.
