Hello ladies, I really want your opinions. I am waiting to hear back from the music director at our church but I believe we will have someone who can play both the piano or the organ.
I'm definitely hiring a violinist because I always imagined having one for my ceremony.
My question is this: If we are having a pianist, should we just get a violinist, should we get a violinist and a flute player or a violinist and some other instrument (trumpet, cello?)
We don't want to spend a lot of money so a duet is the most we would do. I'd like to have the option for the most classical music selections.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Maria

I am looking into hiring a violinist and harpist or flute and harpest. The combo sounds amazing.

That's so funny.. I JUST had this conversation today with someone who is part of an orchestra. It depends on what you want played. For Pachelbel Canon, he said I would need three violinists to get the 'round' effect (or 2 violinists and a cellist). He said that particular song doesn't sound nice with the piano... just the strings. But, he said you COULD do it... it just changes the sound of the song.
I think any other song, you can probably get away with a solo violin and the piano.

I would love to have a violin trio.. but the idea of walking down to the organ plaine Here Comes the Bride.. I always envisioned that!

I LOVE the way the flute and violin sound together so I'd go with that! But a solo violinist together with the pianist would sound nice too.

I wasn't thinking of having any of these b/c I LOVE the sound clips on Royal Brass's website. You get an organist and 2 trumpeters which I LOVE the sound of! However - FH thinks the trumpeters will sound snotty - like we think we are royalty or something. I so do not think that - just like the way it sounds. So now I may have to switch to some strings which is lovely too - I just had my heart set on Royal Brass. Although they have strings too - I should say I had my heart set on the trumpets! Do you girls think trumpets are snotty?
