Poll...just out of curiosity....

Did everyone's reception hall INCLUDE an open bar, or was it extra? It just seems odd to me these days that it wouldn't be included. Maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about!

Yes, my place included open bar. None of the places I looked at even offered cash bar, or a tab.

Ok, so far, that is what I thought. I just started thinking about it when I responded to the Thatched Cottage thread. My mother was really shocked that the wedding she was at a few weeks ago had a cash bar. Ok, still interested in everyone else! Thanks!

I thinkall of the catering halls on LI include an open bar. The only places where it may be extra is a K of C or VFW hall.

most places include it... although you could probably take it out and have a cash bar..

no alcohol included? i wonder if the couple got smaller gifts...(i know a few people who take a blank check to the reception hall, after seeing everything they decide what to give, write it out and put it in the card )

Most offer open bars, a cash bar is a real no-no, IMO. I may have a 'cash bar' (may be having receeption at a restaurant) but I'll be paying a the end, not my guests - never the guests!

Well, after my neurotic mother went to that wedding, she made me contact my reception site just to 'make sure' it was an open bar all night. I was like, why would they lie? And then I got the answer of 'Of course an open bar is included!' from my reception site, as if I was asking something like do you have a bathroom there! Eh, this is more of a poll to show my mother than me. This way she will get off my back

included! although i have to say that i think an open bar is more of a nyc and li thing. i have been to many weddings upstate where the first few hours is an open bar and then the last hour is a cash bar or it a cash bar for the cocktail hour and then open bar at reception or even cash bar for the whole thing!

Groovypeg - Im going to a wedding in Sept upstate where they arent having an open bar. THey will have 2 kegs and some punch, no soda!! When that stuff is out then nothing more to drink other then H20!!!!!!!!!
