I just got an e-greeting from a friend of 17 years telling me (for the 1st time) that she wishes us the best and she is sorry she will not be there...uh, she rsvp'd yes. The reason: she and her bf broke up a week ago and being at a wedding will be depressing for her (not to be mean, but...gimme a break!) Now, I think a phone call would have been better, no?

It would have been nice to recieve a phone call, people will always surprise you no matter how long you have known them. I am sorry this happened

Re: Poor wedding etiquette?
maybe she's too depressed to talk about it?
i agree with brod-cheng, at least she told you about it, the poor girl broke up with her guy, it's understandable she won't be herself and probably doesnt want to talk about it so she didn't call....

Re: Poor wedding etiquette?
Definitely rude but she is probably going through a really hard time and will regret not attending your wedding later. I understand you being hurt, you are definitely entitled but you will be marrying the love of your life in two days soooo....it's all relative at this point!

Re: Poor wedding etiquette?
I understand, but it would have been nice to have gotten a call at this stage in the game instead of an e-greeting. We had been talking about it this week, and I know she is sad. I just really wished she would have been there.

She probably couldn't say it to you...it was just to hard for her. Hopefully she will get up the guts and give you a call, or give her a call and tell her how much you'd really like her to be there even if it's only for a short time. Maybe she just needs a litte push?

Re: Poor wedding etiquette?
Very rude. Sounds selfish to me. Regardless, if I had RSVPed yes-I would be going-my parents raised me properly (mostly).

Re: Poor wedding etiquette?
Give me a break that really takes the cake! She has to swallow her pride and go ALONE. I'm sure she'll know other people there! This day is about you, not her.

Re: Poor wedding etiquette?
You better write her off as a friend. She is a selfish b**ch.
