pop-up's HELP!

All of a sudden , I'm getting like ten-fifteen pop-ups every time I go to do soemthing. I checked security settings, programs..nothing new appears? I cant get rid of them!
Any suggestions?
It says I should have a pop-up blocker but I dont see it where Windows XP tells me it should be?

Re: pop-up's HELP!

if you dont have them already, I would download spybot search and destroy or ad-aware and check for spyware

I agree. This happened to us w/ pop-ups coming up all the time and we had a virus. We had to wipe out our whole computer cause it got so bad.

Re: pop-up's HELP!

You probably downloaded something like Gator, Weatherbug or Gain Spyware. Definitey get spy bot if that doesn't happen XP has the function that you can do a system restore back to awhile ago without losing a lot. I would do that to the day or 2 before you remember the pop-ups starting. Hope that helps.

Re: pop-up's HELP!

Norton antivirus 2005 and spyware. I just went thru this a few days ago. I had to leave the spyware on all nite to get rid of a lot of this ... and the Norton caught 4 viruses. try it ... It will probably work. Good luck. It cost me 108.00 from best Buy... they tried to get me to bring it in, and the sarcastic man told me I would be back. I got rid of the problem.. and got off spending a lot less $$ then having to have them do it.

Re: pop-up's HELP!

I use slim browser. It has a built in ad pop killer built in. I havent gotten one pop up since I dowloaded the free program a few months ago.

Just do a serach on google for slim browser.

I would also download adware, spybot and spy sweeper. These programs will destroy all the spyware you have already on the computer.
