I am curious, anyone know the best way to remove popcorn ceilings? They are located in my future home and we are trying to see if it is easier to hire someone or have someone else do them.
TIA

Re: Popcorn Ceiling
I have seen people remove popcorn ceilings on home shows by standing on a ladder with a metal scraper and a mask and hand scraping the ceiling. It did not look that difficult, but I am sure their arms were tired. I also saw that they had a person with a powerful looking vaccum to clean up all the dust. Good luck

make sure you wear safety goggles AND a mask over your mouth and nose!

Re: Popcorn Ceiling
You actually have to wet the ceiling and then scrape it off. It can be done but it's super tiring. My BIL is in construction and advised us to look at homes without this since he knows how lazy DH and I are!
If it's not too expensive, I would hire someone.
I'm sure you could find a 'how to remove' on HGTV.com.

Re: Popcorn Ceiling
if the area is small or not to many light fixtures i would either sheetrock over it or rip it down and put new rock up either way you have to get some1 to spakle it

Re: Popcorn Ceiling
Hire someone. I had that popcorn on one celing and one bedroom wall. They scrapped it all off somehow and then did some sanding and painting. I am not sure how long it took but there were two men working on my renovations for about 2.5 weeks prior to moving in.

Re: Popcorn Ceiling
Thanks again
akaMrsT, I hate to ask such a question but was it expensive to do? I heard that it is pricey.
