The Vatican denies reports in Italian media that Pope John Paul II has died.

Yes, there are conflicting reports from Italian media.

Vatican official word, right now, is that he has lost consciousness, he is not dead.

Sorry for the wrong info girls. It was on the Italian News that he passed. Then it was later changed, but after I had already posted that he passed. Again sorry.

It's so sad, I actually got to see the poep when he came to Aqueduct..so I feel a little more ....I don't know, more bonded I guess.

It was a very surreal experience....JMO

I live 3 blocks away from Aqueduct and I heard everything loud and clear when he was here

I saw him at Central Park. What a wonderful experience it was.

Also, when I was previously engaged, the priest at my church was going to get for us, as a gift, a Papal blessing. Glad I don't have my ex, but wish I had the blessing!

If you read the book Angels and Demons by Dan Brown (same author as the Davinci Code) it goes into great detail about the process

I believe a new Pope is elected by the College of Cardinals. In order to be POPE, I believe he must receive two- thirds of the vote.

The Pope appoints 120 Cardinals who will be responsible for electing the new Pope. They must recieve 1/2 plus 1 votes to be elected.

i was there also. it was such a great expericence. my fmil has the italian station on satelite. ria is the channel. they say he is still alive but barley. the other new channel didnt even have solid facts they are saying and have no right to say that he already passed. we are watching it in italian. the vadican said that they are going to make an announcement in an hour there time(1:00 am sat) 5:05 pm fri here
