I never knew what an absolutely beautiful town port jefferson is! We went on a whim late last night after the third watch game and it was sooo nice! So many little shops, restaurants and bars. We are definately going to go back when everything is open. We had so much fun..has anyone else been?
I feel so out of it..I only live like an hour away and I never knew how awesome it was. I wonder what else is out there I dont know about. LOL

I live in Port Jeff Station. so I go to the village alll the time. Is IS such a great little town with so much to do. I kinda get spoiled going year round, and then once the summer comes it is sooo PACKED!
I'm sure there are many towns like it out there just as nice that I'm missing out on too!

Re: Port Jefferson
Port Jeff is gorgeous,. We go there all the time for dinner or ice cream, or jsut to walk around. they even have the one hour steamboat cruises for like $10. Ive done the same thing in Lake George, havent done it at PJ yet. Another cute village is Northport Village. I heard Sayville is also nice. Im always asking about what towns are nice to visit. Youre right, there is SO much to be seen and so little time!

I like PJ too. I grew up near there so that was the place where we always went out.
And Sayville definitely is a great town. I know this because I live there! :) It doesn't have all the bars like PJ does, but it's a superb little town. They call it the up and coming new Hampton. HA! The price of housing is almost as much!

I was there earlier in the day....around 4 or 5pm, on M/C.
Did you see yuppy puppy, and the great ice cream/candy place at the end, near the water

Lovelovelove Port Jeff - grew up near there so I spent a lot of time 'growing' up there. Nothing beats Tara's (in PJ Station) for happy hour!!
Stay away from Yuppy Puppy - their treatment of animals is abhorrent. Absolutely disgusting.

Hey - I live right in Port Jeff Village and love it! There are some great restaurants down there as well as that awesome ice cream place - the Frigate - that you all mentioned. It is very quiet there in the winter time - I like it much better then. The summer crowds are a bit much for me.

I live Setauket so we are frequently 'down port' If you want a great Mexican meal try Salsa Salsa! Great place! I agree about Yuppy Puppy the place just breeds kennel cough. Dockside has the best mussels in suffolk! Parking is tough so be prepared to drive around several times esp. on a summer weekend!

I grew up in st. james which is one of the towns before PJ and it's so much fun - even got married there at PJ country club. It's so pretty and quaint, if I had themoney and didn't work int he city i would love to livethere.

Re: Port Jefferson
Yes, STAY AWAY from Yuppy Puppy!!! They get the majority of their dogs from puppy mills! I've been told that the federal gov't has been trying to shut them down, but they just have amazing lawyers. THis is what I've heard....but I do know that a lot of the puppies are from puppy mills.
