I am a bit concerned. I am getting married at Port Jefferson cc in August of this year. When I booked I had no idea that they were losing their catering contract at the end of the year. Just when I was ok with this and talked myself into the fact that everything will be ok in August, I went there this weekend. The gazebo outside is missing many shingles from the roof and is in need of repair. The club itself is owned by the village of port jeff and was wondering if anyone knew whose responsibility the maintance of the grounds was? I feel like if it is the caterers responsibility then they probably won't do anything about it since they will only be there for a few more months. I did not go back in and ask them anything just then, but you can assure I will. I did e-mail the village about this and as of now have not gotten a response. Thanks for letting me vent and if anyone has any help for me, I would appreciate it.

Re: Port Jefferson CC
I am also getting married at the PJCC in August. I'm concerned about them losing the contract for the same reasons you mentioned. I figured I should just check up on the place & voice my complaints. I live out of state, so I haven't been there in a while, but next time I am home I will definitely stop by and check it out. I think we just definitely need to complain if we are unhappy with the upkeep -- you wouldn't think they would **** off all their customers over the next 8 months if all they need to do if fix a few shingles. After all, I'm sure Spoliotis will want to start up a catering gig after they leave Port Jefferson, so they wouldn't want to spoil their reputation. Hopefully other girls on here will complain if they are unhappy. Definitely let me know what happens when you talk to them.

Re: Port Jefferson CC
The two of you should go together, it's harder for them to give you the run-around or empty promises when there's witnesses. Both insist on all promises in writing.

Re: Port Jefferson CC
I have also had all of these concerns with this venue. I really loved it but hesitated b/c of the catering situation but fear waiting for next year would bring fat price increases. Anyway, I just called over there and Nicole said that Steve was on the roof (as we were speaking) fixing stuff with workmen. And she did mention the gazebo and that the winter had tore into it a bit so Steve ripped the roof off and is fixing it. Let me know if this is true when you go there. I also asked her who is responsible for upkeep since it is a leased facility and she said 'it depends' - she was a little vague in that area. She also said that Steve will be opening up something new done the road which I had not heard from him when i was there (did anyone else hear this or was she just saying this to me to ease my concerns....?) Overall I really like the place and can't wait to put my fears to rest and make a decision!

Re: Port Jefferson CC
I'm getting married there in Sept. I called them about all of this a month ago after reading a lot of the posts. Here is what they said:
1. They did not lose their contract. It is a family run business and the head wants to retire. Nobody is taking it over.
2. They won't be starting up anywhere else b/c he is retiring.
3. They are proud of their name and legacy and will do the weddings the same as always to upkeep that.
Edited to say that I spoke to Nicole and my FI spoke to Steve.

Re: Port Jefferson CC
Thought all would find this interesting, I received it today from the village of Port Jefferson. I e-mailed them a week ago and finally got a response. I think I will sleep easier now. :)
Regarding your note of last Wednesday about the repairs at the Country Club, please note the following:
The Gazebo was re-roofed this past week. Weatherpermitting, the deck will be powerwashed and painted this week. Upon completion of the deck work the awings will be installed.
I wish you all the luck in the world with your upcoming wedding. If you should need anything further, please feel free to contact me.

Re: Port Jefferson CC
Thanks for posting Mindy! My 2nd payment was due last Friday and my uncle saw Steve when he dropped it off and was reassured by him that they will fix everything - its just been a tough winter! I am not concerned!
