Port Jeff Country Club too!
I'm getting married there July 5, 2002. It does seem so far away...I've been getting kinda bored with it all. We're planning an engagement party for this summer - I'm hoping that will spark me back up!

What made you choose Port Jeff? I want to make my decision this week. I am running out of places to look at that don't need a 150 guarantee.

Port Jeff Country Club too!
There were a few reasons - 1 I'm from Miller Place - so it wasn't too far from home. 2 - I now live in PA, so I'll be having about 150 overnight guests that will probably make a long weekend of my wedding and Port Jeff is a cute town for visitors 3 - The price, honestly of all the places I looked, they were so reasonable, I couldn't resist 4 - The view from the deck for cocktail hour 5 - I've only heard great things!!!

Port Jeff Country Club too!
I am in a similar boat because all my family is on LI and I live in Boston. I will have out of town guests too. I just wanted to hear people tell me about the food. Is it good? Do you know anything about Oldfield? One more question: how many people are you having?

It really is a beautiful place. I've heard really good things about the place since they got new management. Before them, the people didn't have a good reputation. We wanted to have our wedding here in North Carolina because we live here, but since everyone we know is on Long Island it's better to have it up there. I'm having 100 people on a Friday night. We're actually going to the Country Club on June 3. We have a bunch of photographer appointments also. We have 4 days to pick a photographer, meet with a Catholic Priest, visit with family, etc. It'll be hectic.

Oh yeah, Port Jeff Country Club is good also because your wedding is the only one. You don't have to worry about other people. We're getting married if weather permits at the gazebo overlooking the water, and the cocktail hour is on the deck. If it rains, the ceremony will be indoors as well as the cocktail hour. They've been really nice and professional at this point. You sure do get a lot of food too! When they give you the total price, it includes all the tips except the Maitre D'.

We'll probably wind up with about 220 at our wedding. I myself have never tasted the food at PJCC - but my parents have as well as one of my bridesmaids - they both particularly commented on the good seafood. My parents are pretty good critics, so I trusted them. Let's just hope PJCC doesn't change managment before our weddings.... I've never been to Oldfield, but I'll be going to a friends wedding the first weekend of June. I'll be happy to report back!

Thanks! They shouldn't be changing management I hope. The guy running it now took it over from his parents as i understand it. I haven't seen the room yet.

The Old Field Club is very nice..but more expensive then PJCC...I hear the food is very good. Did you check out Miller Place Inn??? That was our second choice..but I thought it was too small for us..we are having ~200 guests. The people are super nice..and it is very pretty!! Food is excellent too.
