Posed Photos

Posed Photos

Is it possible to just eliminate all or most of the posed photos? I really hate them and would rather have all 'in the moment' photos. After doing a bunch of em, I feel they feel forced. Maybe just a few important group shots - like me, FH and BP and me, FH and both sets of 'rents. Plus then we would be able to enjoy our CH. Anyone else consider this or do you think it is a BAD idea?

i am sure that you could speak to the photographer about this. Some of the specialize in photojournalism and do amazing candids. I haven't met with photographers yet, but from reading some of their descriptions, I think this would be possible.

this is the reason i got the two photographers on traditional and on photojounalist so i could have both. I really hate posed pictures i would rather them get me when i am not noticing. to capture more of a feeling in the picts not just 'stand there and say cheese'

I booked 2 photographers also. There are some posed shots that I definitely want (family shots), but want alot of candids, too.

You may not have to have 2 photographers -- some have a photojournalistic style as a rule.

Id say you do whatever YOU WANT!!! I would just make an effort to make sure everyone gets into the pics...(like your whole fam, his whole fam)

No I totally agree with you. I want a few posed pics, and the rest to be all photojournalisitic.

I'm glad I'm not alone! I actually called FH up in the middle of work to tell him about my 'revelation' that I want to limit to the bare min posed shots (he was thrilled - plus he knows I hate 'fake smiling' for posed shots!). Plus I totally am all about the cocktail hour!

FH wants 3 (me and him, us and the BP, and us and the 'rents) and that's fine with me!

Hopefully I can find a good photo place!

i want posed photos. but not cheesy 1980s, head over the shoulder poses. i mean, i want pics of my family and pics of chris' family and some shots with the bp. but i don't want the 'bm lifting the groom' pic - he's over 250 lbs., really don't think its possible. and i don't want the gm's kiss the bride on the cheek shot, not my style. in all honesty, we really hit it off w/our photographer and we know that we will get what we want. but we know he can't read our minds so we have to tell him. just open your mouth and let them know, your paying them after all

The photo place we're probbaly going with, artisan, takes some posed photos, but mostly candids and photojournalistic. The prices were really good. Chuck, the owner and lead photographer is great and really knows whathe's doing and if you want to add a 2nd photjournalist, it's only $600 and they do great work. You don't even NEED te photojournalist because Chuck tries to get those posed shots out of the way as quickly as posisble so they don't interfere with your party and focuses on capturing everything in an unobtrusive manner. I would definitely check them out. I'm stil not 100% decided because I have other stops to make (I really just want to know that I looked at several vendors before I booked), but I was really really thrilled with Artisan!

I don't want many posed photos either. Just a handful or FH and his family and me with mine. Other than that I prefer candids.
