Positions?

Positions?

Without getting too far into the TMI zone, are there certain positions that are better for conception?

Also, I've seen some articles that say you shouldn't stand up for 20 minutes after and you should elevate your uterus slightly.

Any validity in your experience/research?

TIA!

Re: Positions?

They say missionary position is best - girl on the bottom on her back - for getting PG.

Yeah I heard not to move for 20 mins to an hour after you BD. They also say to prop your hips up.

Re: Positions?

I recently read a study that says doggie is best because it gets the man closest to the cervix. Up to reading that, I always heard it was missionary.

Interesting side bar I read...when men ejaculate it comes out at 10mph!

Doggie is best for women with a tilted uterus (worked twice now for me!!). As for resting for 20 minutes - I did that, not intentionally, and I guess it worked, though I have a friend who got pregnant and she knows the day she conceived, and she remembers jumping out of bed right after to run to the bathroom.

That is true about Doggie for tilted uterus because I have one and did some research! Am not TTC yet though!

Regular old missionary worked for me. I was also one of the ones who sat with her legs in the air for 15 minutes.

Ditto the first part for me, but I was also one of the ones who went running to the bathroom right after!!

How do you know if you have a tilted uterus?

Is it something that they tell you during a routine exam?

Yes, one day I saw a nurse practicioner and she said 'Oh you have a retroverted uterus' and I freaked out, because I didn't know what that was and my regular Dr. never said anything. So maybe you should ask I don't think it really matters though. You can still get pregnant any way, just a better chance with doggie because of the angle or something.

Re: Positions?

I read the same for the doggie position....my dr told me the resting for 20 min with your hips up was a wives' tale......

I've heard no going potty right after and no shower right after....washes away all the little swimmers

Re: Positions?

Thanks girls.

I guess we will mix it up and try a few different ones to see what works.

It's only our 3rd month trying, but it's getting frustrating already.

I'm trying not to stress.
