so i went to a travel agent last night with FH to start talking about our HM...she suggested mexico and FH immediately said no, so she went through all the islands and we didn't see anything that was like 'wow, that's it'
so at the end i asked FH why did you immediately say no to mexico? he said he thought it was unsafe with all of the stuff that's going on down there so the travel agent showed us where that was happening and how far away the yucatan peninsula is from there (it's like from NY to Nevada)
ANYWHO. she shows us this resort and we're in love. FH told me to book it today bc he doesn't want to lose the room lol
i think i'm on the fence because it's in mexico...kind of close to cancun...so i'm embarrassed to tell ppl i'm going to cancun for my HM lol

We're thinking of going here too!!! We want the 2 story room, it looks awesome!!!
We went to Cancun this past February and didn't really like it that much but we want to go to this place anyway My FSIL got marriend and had her HM at El Dorado Royale in Riviera Maya, that place is gorgeous too! It's more expensive than Excellence but they have these little casitas that are so nice. For our budget and time availability this is the best choice for us! I guess I'll let you know how it goes since I'll be going before you

He said no way to Mexico....which is fine...except that place is SOOOOOO NICE!!!!!!

We've stayed in the Riviera Maya area for the past few summers, and it is NOTHING like being in Cancun! The resorts we went to were absolutely amazing, and there wasn't a partying single atmosphere that you'd expect from Cancun. FM me if you have any questions about the area, we did some really fun romantic stuff

I think you'll be very safe and it will be VERY beautiful
I know there is pressure to go to some exotic place cause other girls go on these amazing trips, but ya know what that not it's all about
my FSIL went to italy for 2 weeks - good for her I can't afford that LOL

omg really?? i'm secretly obsessed with it- i watched like 17 youtube videos with tours/reviews of the place last night. i just thought it was weird to say i was honeymooning in cancun since that's it's notorious for spring breakers
you fly into the same airport, but riviera maya is about 45 minutes from cancun so there will def not be any spring breakers.
i loveeee riviera maya. i went there in june and had an amazing time!

The room is beautiful, and you can't beat an all inclusive.
We are getting married the same day, FH & I booked our honeymoon a few weeks ago. We're doing a transatlantic cruise , leaving from Spain, visiting Portugal, 3 Canary islands, before coming in to St. marteen, & Puerto Rico...
We chose to get married in November so we could honeymoon in Fiji and that's not even what we're doing...
Look in to all your options and know what is available. Don't feel pressured because you want to secure a certain room.
