We are having an 11:00 am ceremony at the church, which is literally just 10 minutes from the reception hall. The ceremony is a shorter one, about 20 minutes. The cocktail hour is from 12:30-1:45. We don't want to miss cocktail hour, and we don't want to take pictures together before the ceremony, either.
We will have two photographers in the morning so that we can each take individual shots and shots with our respective families.
That said, how much time is necessary for pictures together after the ceremony? I am hoping no longer than 45 minutes or so...am I being unreasonable?

Re: Post-ceremony pics?
Everyone talked me into doing the pics before the ceremony even though it is never what I imagined as a little girl. My friend just got married this past May and did not do pictures before & got married at the hall. She was out of the reception for a scattered two hours. I just couldn't do that.
Totally up to you though-- I think forty-five minutes may be enough time for some pictures but I don't think you can expect the world or the same quality of photos as if you had hours to take pictures.

Re: Post-ceremony pics?
We plan on taking pictures before our ceremony for 2 hours. Reason being, we have a large bridal party, family shots, FH and I will do first looks, and we really want to enjoy our cocktail hour.
Think about how many people are in your bridal party,bride/groom shots, immediate family shots, etc. You want to have enough time and focus on your pictures and not worry about missing your cocktail/reception etc.
Things will work out for you. All the best.

Thanks :). We have a pretty small party, no more than three bridesmaids and three groomsmen.

Re: Post-ceremony pics?
You should discuss the time constraint with your photographer, ours was really able to put my mind at ease. I am going to have a similar problem-church at 11 am and cocktail hour starts at 1 PM. We are going to be about half hour away from the RH.
With some great suggestions from the LIW brides & my photographer we decided we are going to have the shorter ceremony (which you are already doing) and we will not have a receiving line at the church. Photographer is going to take as many pics of me,my side of family, & bm's (small party only 3girls) prior to ceremony as possible to save time after ceremony. Also, we are going to head straight to RH after ceremony & take pics there since there are plenty of places for nice pics there We will definitely miss CH which sucks but photographer promised he will try his best not to pull us out of the reception itself.
