Post-marriage banking!

Post-marriage banking!

What is everyone doing banking wise after they are married? There is so much debate on whether to do joint banking and Fh and I want to iron down a plan! Who is doing a joint account and who isn't and what are your reasons?

We have two joint accounts (one is for paying for everything for the wedding) the other is for paying for every day stuff, the mortgage, car payments etc.... and then we each have our own account!

We have our own separate checking accounts and a joint savings account.

We've gone back and forth and changed our mind a few times, but for now our plan is to combine and have 1 checking account and 1 savings account. It just seems less complicated to do it that way, now that we are dealing with bills and payments for the wedding it is annoying to go back and forth with who is paying for what and it made us realize it will be so much easier if we just had all of our money in one place.

*Crashing*

Me & Fh live together and have had our accounts meshing for 6 months.. What we do is have seperate accounts but one joint one. I stick a small portion in my personal account and the rest gets dumped into our joint. He does the same.. This way we still have a little money to splurge on things for ourselves (or each other) but our bills are getting paid and we're saving together too.. Hope this helps!

We each have our own checking and savings accounts for personal use, and a joint checking and savings account for paying rent and for wedding stuff.

We have joint and separate. After the wedding we will most likely be combining everything just for convenience.

We already have a joint account and our own seperate accounts. We handle the bills in the joint and our individual bills in our seperate accounts.

Just opened our joint checking and savings account. We kept our existing accounts but needed an account for engagements gifts, wedding bills, honeymoon savings...plus we live together now and the exchanging of money for bills is a little ridiculous (you pay the 50 electric, I'll get the 100 cable, then you owe 50 for this, etc. When it's all the same pot).

We currently have 2 joint accounts and we each have a separate account. Once we are married we will be combining everything and have all joint accounts.

We already have our joint account set up. I pay all the pills and manage all that stuff so it's just easier, esp with paying bills now and trying to save for the wedding.

We have separate accounts with the same bank. He transfers money to my account so we can pay bills. We live paycheck to paycheck trying not to get overdrafts so I think opening a joint checking account is out of the question right now. Maybe later.

We have a savings account together and a seperate checking account. But after we get married we will have one checking and one savings.

DH and i started our joint account over a year ago...we had been living together for a year already and were already engaged. it just seemed easier to set it up when it came to bills. I secretly wanted to keep my own account and have a small portion of my check deposited into it, but decided against it. DH and i spoke about keeping our own accounts in addition to the joint one, but in the end felt it was just too secretive...like what purchases is he/she hiding that it cant come from a joint account. We both have our own credit cards though so we can each get things without the other person knowing exactly what it is since the payments just go through as mastercard, discover, etc.

FH and I opened a joint account once we got engaged. It has worked out really well and anything we put into or out of the wedding comes and goes out of there.

We've lived together for 2.5 years now, and we are going to stick with the same plan once we're married since its worked out so well so far. We have a joint checking account, linked to our individual savings, and we each put a set amount into it every month that covers the mortgage, utilities, food, and other household stuff like new furniture. We use our separate accounts for everything else, including the wedding. We figure that it'll all work out somewhat evenly in the end!
