I think i am going to go now and check it out....What do I have to lose right......and I get to miss a day in the hell hole I work in....What could be better than that.

best of luck if you end up going to the interview - be sure to keep us all posted! I feel like there are so many of us here who really despise where we are in our career lives, so it's inspiring to hear of your attempt to do something about it!

i'm sure you are qualified for the lirr, but there is a whole series of exams to go through. and if you send in a resume, it will be at least a year until you are called for an interview. my fh is an asst conductor and he totally loves it. the hours totally suck for him right now since he is the low man on the totem pole, but i know that it is going to get better and just be better for us. i'm not trying to discourage you, but just let you know that its difficult to get on, you definelty have to know somebody who is already on. good luck.

My mom's cousin just retired from the PO. he was a a carrier.

He started that after he left the fire department. I think because of hearing loss. He loved it , but he is crazy atheletic, always up at the crack of dawn to run, bikes across the country on his vacations, stuff like that.

Scott, I know how you feel-- I work in marketing & am so bad at it.
I gett in such a a daze behind a computer. I need to move around.
