Re: Post Office Question PLEASE HELP
That's where they hand stamp the envelopes instead of putting them through the machines.

Why would you hand cancel? Does the machine ruin invites??

Re: Post Office Question PLEASE HELP
The machines could ruin the invites if they are too thick and the USPS employee doesn't remove them from the conveyor belt before they enter the machine.
Also, if you have any pieces on your invite that sort of make it raised (rhinestones, etc) then it could get stuck in the machine as well.
There is no cost to have them hand stamped; just be ready for the postal person to be slightly unhappy...lol.

no cost for handstamping, BUTTT you you will be charged .20 additional each invite if there is something on it that makes it bulky or raised in spots.... like mine has a starfish and it makes the envelope come up a bit more so i'll be charged extra

Re: Post Office Question PLEASE HELP
the post office should have universal pricing, because its a federal agency..fh is a manager for the post office i just asked him..he said that sometimes clerks will make mistakes though
and the city should NOT have a fee for hand cancelling--ask to speak to a manager if there is
something raised also should not have a higher charge-it only goes by weight and size..its 42 cents for the first ounce and 17 cents an ounce over this

Re: Post Office Question PLEASE HELP
I ended up having to put .79 stamps on each envelope because of my creativity...lol They didnt have any nice 10 cent stamps so I just bought the wedding 42 cent ones and put 2 stamps on each invite. It was so annoying but they are done and mailed and I am happy!!!
