Post Office Vent

Post Office Vent

So, needing to vent: we sent all our invitations out before the May 11 postage switch, but we realized after the fact that the postage on the return cards is short for those who put it in the mail after the 11th. Since there is no return address we have no idea if all of these cards are going to go to dead mail or what? They're all short like a cent- it's so frustrating! We are hoping they'll come to us with a postage due- that will be fine- but we don't have a post office box so I don't know how that works- do they send us a bill?

I'm basically having a minor anxiety attack that all of the letters will go to dead mail and I'll have to seek out and call 80% of our guests.

Does anyone know what happens to letters with no return address and insufficient postage?

Hi!

I did the same thing! My Mom went to the post office and alerted them and they said there is a grace period of about a week or so (I am still getting RSVP's). The postal clerk also filled out a form and told us to go to the post office every few days to pick up the RSVP's and pay the difference. My Mom also alerted our mail carrier.

Good luck!

I believe that a lot of people will notice and put the extra stamps on. I wouldn't worry too much. But Lauren's advice is great about alerting the post office since they'll probably get them all, and you can go in and pay the difference!

Feel better!
