Just FYI to the Tessa girls, if you have a monogram, it's an extra 20 cents on the postage because it can't bend. Don't believe them if they tell you otherwise because they'll just make you pay the extra cost when you go to mail them.
I went last week to the post office with a full envelope sample and asked them to weigh it and they told me 59 cents. I bought my heart stamps and stamped them. I go this morning to mail them and now they're telling me there's a 20 cent surcharge because of the monogram! Something about it not being bendable. So I had to pay an extra 42 cents for the green heart stamps instead of 20 cents so my carefully addressed and designed invites don't have some stupid clock on it, which was my only other option for extra postage. Then I had to stand there and put stamps on 90 invites.

Did your sample have a monogram when you took it to the post office the first time? That is weird that they wouldnt tell you the first time around

That doesn't sound right. I don't understand what the monogram has to do with it. You wouldn't bend invites anyway. Postage is based on the weight and shape of the package and should have been weighed correctly the first time. I'm not sure what that has to do with Tessa?

Yeah, i wonder if they just didn't weigh it properly the first time. my invites from her were more expensive to mail - i overpaid the postage and had to put two 42 cent stamps on each rather than one wedding one and a random ugly one. but they never told me it was 'bending' problem, just over the weight allowed for the 59 cent stamps. sorry that happened to you after you'd already done all the work the first time around!

The monogram makes it difficult to bend the invite. Postage is based on weight and shape and apparently, also if it's able to bend. The woman in the post office remembered me and said she realized after I walked out that she forgot to feel the middle. I remember awhile ago I brought a proof in to see what the price on postage would be and this morning I remembered that they said something about the monogram and bending.
I thought the same thing - they shouldn't be bending my invites at all!! But I used Tessa and many of her invites have monograms and that's why I mentioned it specifically for the Tessa brides just to give them the heads up to specifically ask about that if the post offiec doesn't say something first. It will save them the hassle of finding out about the extra postage later.
