Re: Post Offices for Hand Cancelling
almost no post offices in brooklyn or queens will do this for you. i also work near the central post office in NYC and they will not do this for me.
when i was engaged last time and i had to send out my invites, i wanted them hand canceled and i went to my local post office during off hours and n o one was there and i struck up a convo with the teller and she was having a really nice day and was nice and hand stamped them for me. but that was 2½ years ago.
i can't find anyone to do it now. but honestly, no one really looks at the outside of the invite envelope like that.

Re: Post Offices for Hand Cancelling
We just sent ours on Friday. We asked for hand stamping which she did right in front of FH. But then some A$$ sent some thru the machine and put that stupid bar-code sticker right over our stamps we had specially made and spent TONSSSS of $ on.

the SAME thing happened to me. they hand cancelled my STDs, but also sent them through the machine, so they were all double cancelled.
i'm not even bothering with my invites. it's just not worth the effort!

Re: Post Offices for Hand Cancelling
hand cancelling is when the post office will hand stamp each envelope instead of running it through the machine. people have it done in case you have stickers or something that might get caught in the machine or so they dont have a stamp or barcode that makes the outer envelope kinda look junky. we had it done in east meadow but i agree, i dont think hardly anywhere in the bouroughs will do it...

Re: Post Offices for Hand Cancelling
I asked for mine to be hand cancelled, handed them to the clerk, and I'm assuming that's what they did since I didn't hear of any invites arriving damaged. When I went back though a second time, I asked the same and the guy looked at me like I had 10 heads and told me to put it in the mailbox, which I told him I wouldn't do, so I handed it to him. Anymore that go out, I will probably just send in the mailbox.
