I like the basket weave cakes. Maybe your hall might be generous and provide one. You never know. I do not know how my hall displays their cakes. I guess I will find out soon.

We did our menu last night at Villa Lombardis for our 6/30 wedding. I am confused about the cake though. I brought many pictures of cakes that I like but here's the dilemma. I love the fondant look which is what many of the pics on the board look like, but from what I hear that type of cake does not taste good They said that they could use whipped cream and give the cake that 'smooth' look and a better taste than fondant.

Anyone have any advice on this topic?

We have 2 pics that we like. So it will probably be a cross between the 2.
