potential drama... oh boy

potential drama... oh boy

so basically I used to teach at a pre-school where I became good friends with my assistant. Even though i left that job 4 months ago, we're still buddies - not as close as we used to be since we don't see each other or talk as much. But I still consider her a friend and she's definitely been invited to the wedding.

Well... a little while back, this man i know (the FATHER of one of my students) decided to leave his wife outta no where. His wife was all heart broken, totally surprised and she was convinced he must of been having an affair. During the time that i left, I never kept up with that 'gossip', nor did I care. However, all of a sudden I JUST found out the awful truth that my friend, the assistant teacher, is the one he's leaving his wife for! She was totally running around with this guy, obviously keeping it a secret at work. I'm so grossed out - Not only because she is half his age (she's 18, he's around 35-ish) which is disturbing enough, not to mention it's the FATHER of one of our students, but to have an affair?? I wouldn't think anything if she was just dating a single father. Whatever. Do what you want. But to break up a marriage. That totally disgusts me. I hate girls like that. We shouldn't do that to each other. Married men are off limits. If he's gonna leave his wife, let him do it... but don't have a relationship with him until the divorce is final!! Jeez.

So anyway - now I'm wondering if she's going to bring HIM to the wedding as her guest! I have quite a few others from my old job invited also (including the boss) and i KNOW that they are aware of the situation and are even considering firing her for this. So i dunno. That could certainly make things awkward.

What's funny is that I almost find it amusing!! Like, whatever, bring him. Just know that you'll never have what I do. Because if he cheated on his wife to be with you, chances are that he'll cheat on you too! You won't always be so young & thin. There WILL be a girl younger & prettier than you that comes along at SOME point!

Ugh... sorry this was long. Did anybody even read the whole thing? haha. Just had to rant a little. I know my wedding is not the most important part of this entire situation, but I still hope there's no 'drama' there. Wouldn't that be just dandy!

WOW. Could you talk to her and ask her not to bring him because other people from the school will be there and it will be awkward (to say the least)? I am sure he would not want to be seen with his son's teacher (assistant) - and if he knew other people from the school would be there, all the more reason not to go I would think.

Tell her you value her friendship but that you think it might be best FOR HER if she comes solo. Good luck!

I'm really sorry to hear about this. If you don't mind her bringing him then it shouldn't matter what others think. Your former coworkers might not mind that either. My office is very noisy. They might like the drama.

I just don't think that she's stupid enough to actually bring him, unless she WANTS to create the drama (which I don't know why she would). I'm gonna wait and see what happens. She hasn't RSVP'd yet, but if it DOES end up that she plans to bring him, I'll probably ask her not to. But like I said before, she may not. In fact, she still may be trying to keep it a secret (she doesn't know that I know)
