it's probably when they release a crap load of balloons into the sky
resulting in a phone call 15hrs later by some lady in the sticks of some state saying she saw a ufo

not a dumb question at all!
They release balloons either right after the ceremony or when you get to the RH depending on how you want it.

My friends really loved the idea, and tried to convince us to do something similar b/c a company i work for does it as well...

but we decided against it because we volunteer for the Riverhead Foundation that is located at the Aquarium out in ...riverhead. And we have worked with a lot of turtles that have gotten injurred because of balloons. I've actually gone to a few schools to educate about some things we can do to help sea turtles... and one of them is to not launch helium balloons. I'm not trying to preach, and I'd never tell someone else what to do or what not to do...

but a lot of people are unaware of the danger balloons pose to wild life.

Sea turtles eat jellyfish. deflating balloons that landed in the water can look like jellyfish. Turtles eat the balloons and then can't digest them. They get really sick and die. The strings or ribbons from balloons also get tangled around the necks or flippers of turtles, seals, and wales.

...while i'm on the topic, and before i get off my soap box... remember to cut the six pack plastic pieces so they don't get stuck around an animals neck or other body part.

this ends my PSA for the day.

that being said... i do think that the balloons are pretty.
