We picked out this non-stick calphalon pots and pans set....but i keep hearing different things
some people say stay away from non-stick .....they dont last as long as stainless steel
others say that the non stick is better than stainless steel, quality is the same
and then someone said that calphalon non stick is not as good as anolon non stick pots and pans
now please keep in mind i dont cook at all lol
any recomendations out there?

Re: POTS
i have had both. I always used non stick and then my mom bought the SS ones for Christmas for us......THe SS blows the nonstick away. I have Cuisinart and I love them.

Re: POTS
i got stainless steal buttt i got two non stick frying pans because i cant live without those! my mother still has the same stainless set she got when she got married 30 years ago ... so she wanted me to get a set that would last me a life time. usually with non stick once they start to peel you have to get rid of it. i would get some from both ... or one set and a couple of pieces from the other.

I registered for the stainless steel 13 piece set from Calphalon, and 2 non-stick frying pans, also from Calphalon.

Re: POTS
I registered for All-Clad SS and one non-stick pan for eggs mostly. People say to stay away from non-stick because of the chemicals, if you ever notice how non-stick scratches... well every time they scratch you are getting those chemicals into your food

Hi girls! I wanted to chime in on this conversation because FH and I are having a really hard time finding pots that aren't so darn heavy! Any recommendations for SS pots that I can lift?

I only have a hard time lifting the big ones. Go to the store and lift a bunch....the really big pans you will have a problem with in any brand

We did. The only ones that seem manageable are the ones that aren't as good quality. It's a pickle!

Re: POTS
My FH and I are big cooks, he even went to culinary school, and I've had about 4 different sets of pots. Stainless Steel is the best. Food cooks better . . . chicken and veal cutlets brown, sauces simmer, etc., better and on lower flames. I will never buy a nonstick pot again for the rest of my life. But, not all Stainless is the same. I hate to say, but the All-Clad is the best, and though it's expensive, you get what you pay for. I registered for it, and honestly, I've received all but one of my pots so far . . . people will buy it, and you will love it. It's also beautiful.

Oh, and the All-Clad handles are angled very high, so they don't get hot while the pot's on the stove!

I did the same- I have nonstick and stainless right now (inexpensive ones) and I like both BUT the stainless will out last the nonstick especially if your FH is not very careful (LIKE MINE!!) and uses metal utensils on the nonstick pans.

Re: POTS
If you are going to cook, you'll want some of both. I'm registering for All Clad ( a billion dollars but awesome and all my sisters have) as well as some non stick Calphalons.
