I think that its so unfair that people have to suffer through Pre-Cana! FH had a great couple and we really enjoyed the people. I have heard that when its a Deacon or theweekend thing its all about religion and what the bible says etc. I found that the once a week thing for 5 weeks wasn't as intense that it was more laid back. Thats just what I gather from talking to past brides. Well at least you don't have to do it again! I hope you survive through tonight

UGH- our pre-cana was TORTURE!!!!!!!!! It was the DRC one for the full weekend in Feb. and it was the longest weekend of our life. Here is why we were MISERABLE: The people who ran it READ EVERYTHING off of sheets of paper. They didn't look up as they spoke- I was like: Just print the friggin' speach out and hand it out! Don't lecture us by READING it off of a sheet! It was so frustrating. They also brought in a few speakers. The guy who spoke about communications was good. The other ones were so painstaikingly boring and had no idea how to speak publicly. They all had nervous laughs and kept doing things like 'Ummmm and Ok' every 2 seconds. It was just terrible. We all just sat there counting down the hours. I fell asleep a few times and so did many of the other people there.
I'm so jealous of everyone else who had a good experience. I really and truly was looking forward to getting something out of this- besides FRUSTRATION!
FH and I did the same thing but here in VA. And the speakers were the same as you said; reading off a piece of paper and talking about such simplistic things like the dangers of credit card debt! The one couple that spoke had a 1 yr old child that they brought with them (hello, can't you leave her with a sitter like the rest of your kids?) and the first day of pre-cana was from 7 - 10 pm and the kid cried and whined the whole time (probably because she was tired!). The mom had her in her arms while she was trying to read off her paper and the kid was squirming and trying to get down. Talk about distracting! At least the priest was good though, but I'm glad it's over!
