So I start Pre Cana in January. I have two weekends from 7 to 10 Then a mass on sunday . What do the people really talk about because FH is a Baptist and really isn't feeling it. Anybody know?
I have another Question? What do you wear? I'm not doing mine at a church i'm doing it at someones house so do you have to dress up? What would you do or did you do? Thanks!

Re: Pre Cana?!?!
At our Pre Cana we talked about what kinds of things come up in a marriage and how important communication is. Some funny anecdotes from the host couple. It really wasnt as bad as i thought. I actually found it informative and interesting. I think you will be fine

Re: Pre Cana?!?!
Thanks I know that it will be at the hosting couples house so maybe it won't be as long as they say it will be.

Re: Pre Cana?!?!
it really was kinda nice...i am not religious...but i did not mind it....the host couple did not really shove religion down our throats...they really just discussed marriage and how to deal with the problems that can arise, etc...basically how to have a healthy and happy marriage

Re: Pre Cana?!?!
You dont really talk about anything religious, you talk about difference aspects of marriage, holiday sharing with families, that sort of stuff, we were really nervous about pre cana and we actually enjoyed it

Re: Pre Cana?!?!
fh and i are different religions, he is the one who is catholic so i understand how your fh feels...but honestly they didn't talk about religion that much and nothing to make him feel uncomfortable...It is mostly about your relationship, how to make things work, what to expect, basically like group counseling on relationships it felt like lol...we both actually enjoyed it

Re: Pre Cana?!?!
I think religion was spoken about for like 20 minutes the whole time. I actually enjoyed my pre cana. We spoke about communication, financial issues, family issues and a couple other topics. I took it as a way to see if me and fh were on the same page for these topics. What I liked the most was that they would break up into the girls group and the boys group, make up questions to ask the other group and then have an open discussion. For example, one of our girl questions to the boys was something like 'do you compare us to your mothers and how?' It was great because most people gave their opinions and the questions were annonymus. You'll be fine. Just try to enjoy yourself

Re: Pre Cana?!?!
I dreaded the idea of going to Pre-Cana but we ended up having a great experience.
We talked about family, and communication and splitting the holidays and so much more.
The priest was only there to say hello and then the other lead couples took charge.
Good luck.

I did mine at Kellenberg and wore a sweater and jeans. Nothing fancy. I think I wore heels, but thats just because I always do.

Re: Pre Cana?!?!
We talked about things like finances, where we plan on living, the potential marital issues that might arise and how we'd work through them, spirituality (with ZERO push to go to church every week), sexuality (not if we are doing it, but if we've discussed kids and stuff) and other things that were pretty much what we expected to talk about. We NEVER left feeling uncomfortable and had a GREAT time!

Re: Pre Cana?!?!
I was going to double check myself because they told me that they would call but when I hit my 6 months they called so you still have time I would wait a little bit. If it's going to bother you then it wont hurt to call. HTH.
