Hi How long is Pre-Cana and how far in advance are you able to do it?? I remember one of my friends doing it over the course of a weekend, but how many sessions do you have to go to?? I think for FH and I we can only go on a once a week schedule b/c our work schedules are really insane, and taking a 3 or 4 day weekend would be impossible. Are you able to do like once a week, however many weeks? What options are there?

this is the info for the diocese of rockville center... on the right side of the page it lists options (engagement encounter weekend or marriage preparation programs). Under Marriage Preparation Programs it lists several different options... they do 6 thursday night sessions from like 7-9pm... we are going to sign up asap, we are just waiting for our best friends to pick a wedding date so we can plan it! honestly, i'm not looking forward to it!

Re: Pre Cana
We got all this information from our Church when we met with our priest. Basically, we did ours on a Friday night for about 2 hours, like 7-9pm and then all day Saturday from 9-5. I've heard of once a week for a certain amount of time also. But, you can always call your church and they should be able to give you any info you need.

it really depends, theres so many different types of pre-cana's. I know some churches have only 1 type you can do so depends on your church. In queens we are given a site with a schedule and list of different places we can go to so we pick whichever one we want plus it has different options.
DH and i did the 2 day pre-cana. It was friday and saturday. Friday it was from 8pm-9pm
saturday was supposed to be 9-5 but we got out at 4 and also had 1 hour lunch break and they provided the lunch plus about 3 or so 15 minute breaks. We really were worried about this and how long it was but it actually wasnt bad at all.
Theres some places where you can go once a week for about 4-6 weeks.
some churches even have it that you dont go there to do pre-cana but you go to the hosts couples house and this also is about once a week for a couple of weeks
then theres the retreat which is the weekend and you stay there.
which church are you getting married at? maybe someone can help you and give you the info you need if they know about your particular church

just about every girl on LIW wasnt looking forward to it beforehand, but after most said they loved it and were surprised.
i also wasnt looking forward to it, im not catholic but got married in a catholic church so i thought it was gonna have alot to do with religion but actually quite the opposite.
Its all about your relationship. We even took quizzes, we each had to fill it out to see how well we know eachother and then we just exchange it with our FH and go over it together. How many other times are you gonna get your FH to do a couple of these quizzes hahaha. Then the host couple just talks about different topics in relationships and you can join in if you want or just listen. They talk about in-laws and your families interferring and how not to let that happen. They spoke about pet peeves of eachother and how to get past it. How to deal with serious issues. Children, even sex. Our host couple was so great and the husband was histerical, which helped the guys lol. The couple shared their story and the ups and downs they've gone through. We even had to write a love letter to eachother to say 'the reason i love you is bc______' but they dont read it, you just exchange and they say to give it to eachother wedding day but we read it before lol. Its basically like group counseling hahahaha

Re: Pre Cana
We're getting married at St Paul the Apostle in Brookville, which is about an hour away (we're in Rockaway Beach, Queens). We'd likely do pre-cana through the archdioces of Rockville Center, as anything south shore nassau works better for us. I'd love to get it done in the dead of winter, while its freezing outside =)
