FH and I have our first pre cana tomorrow night. We are doing one that is 1 session per week for 5 weeks. Can somebody tell me what exactly we do there? I have a geneal idea, but now im getting kind of nervous/excited.

they talk bout what to do to make your marriage work and all different scenerios and works sheets with your partner..its not that bad

thank you for your response. Did you have to talk in front of the group? this is what is getting me nervous.

I went for my first one the other night and they gave us a workbook, I skimmed through it and it has alot of personal stuff in it. I hope we dont have to talk about it all in the group. It's no one elses business.

I was actually not looking forward to precana at all. I wanted to just do it & get it out of the way. In the end we both were so happy we did it & really enjoyed it.
We went on a weekend & there were 35 couples there. We sat together & heard a couple speak about different things (money, communication, kids, finances) then after hearing the couple speak we went into a group of 10 couples & sat in a circle and discussed certain things about that topic. We had to go around the room and answer a question 1 at a time in front of everyone. FH hated this!!!! The we would go back in the big room again & hear a couple speak about another topic and the same process.
We learned a lot about each other. We definately talked about things we never talked about before & it really got us talking. We enjoyed it!

We went 3 nights 3 hours each, first night we watched a movie about a disfuctional family and discussed, the second night we took the focus test, and the third night we got our results and went to mass, There were about 7 other couples.

We really enjoyed our precana experience. Some things you talk about alone, and other topics in a group. It was also a great way to bring up topics that can be difficult to talk about but are necessary to sort out. It's kind of comforting to know that there are other couples walking into the same life changes that you are. Good luck!
