FH and I finished our pre-cana this past Sunday, and I have to admit it. I really left having enjoyed the experience. Yes, it was long and drawn out at points, but some of the exercises were actually kinda nice. Like writing a letter to your fiance telling them exactly why you want to get married and then exchanging letters. It just opened my eyes to the way FH feels about things, and his to me. Honestly, it got me so excited to get married. To have the ceremony. To be in my families church, taking our vows. It made the wedding feel ten times more important somehow. I just was able to forget about all the planning, and all the stresses related to the party aspect, and got me so excited to just walk down that aisle and take FH's hand at the end of it.
Sorry so sappy, just had to share.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. It does make you focus on the important stuff and realize how serious it all really is. We had a good time at ours too.

We had a good time at ours too. It wasn't what we were expecting and we got a lot out of it!

It's not sappy at all, we had a great experience at ours as well. I feel like we would have never discussed some things and gained more insight into each other if it wasn't listed in the questions. Glad to hear that you had a wonderful experience!

Re: Pre-Cana experience
I attened Pre Cana last weekend and I left feeling unfulfilled. It was just a bunch of old people talking to 50 couples about Natural Family Planning and how to save money. The finance guy told us to buy generic brands and weigh the 10 pound bags of potatoes to make sure they weigh 10 pounds.
I really thought it would be more of an understanding of marriage and spirituality. Oh well.
Sounds like your session was a lot better.

Re: Pre-Cana experience
Ours was done through the diocese of RVC, and held at the Emmanuel Retreat House which is the back of Kellenberg HS. I hope all you girls getting ready to go have a nice experience. I mean, FH and I are in no way devout people. We don't even go to church outside of the holidays! But pre-cana helped us see that getting married is a special and wonderful blessing. We left very happy to be spending the rest of our days together!

We did last Sunday and this past Sunday as well. I think we might have only done the letters to kill some time until the priest arrived for the mass at the end of the day. But it's easily something you and FH could do on your own!

Re: Pre-Cana experience
Ours was a good experience too. We had to go for a total of 5 weeks (3 at the presenting couples' home, 1 at the church and 1 at the chapel) which got a little tedious but overall, it wasn't so bad. We actually bonded with two of the other couples that were there and we're all going to try and go to each others' weddings.
I liked that our pre-cana group was small - 2 presenting couples and 5 engaged couples. I think I got more out of it that way.
