Pre-Cana ladies...

Original post by beachbum05

...Do any of you have a list of the questions you were asked?

I'd really like to get a copy of those questions. I'm Catholic, FH is Jewish, but we're doing a non-denominational ceremony. But I think its SOOOO important to ask all of those questions before getting married.

I'd be super grateful. I can give you my email addy if you need it.

TIA

I think it depends on the church. From what I've been told, the topics are: building Christ into your relationship; finances; the rythym method. Yes, those are the topics

yeah but isnt there a test you have to answer personal questions

I was told it isn't so much as a test, but a way for you and FH to see what your feelings are such as about raising kids and who is responsible for homework and other household things. It's not going to get graphic and ask things about your sex life. It's stuff like who's responsible for paying the bills and how to make sure you're both involved. Cause remember divorce in the Catholic church is a big no-no, so you have to do everything you can to make it work.

oh ok, and whats on the foccus test?

I forget. Not everyone has to do it. We do because of the church where we're getting married. I'm thinking it goes deeper into building a stronger relationship simply because divorce happens over things such as finances.

No clue. I feel the same way, not a big deal to me, but who cares? I was baptized, made my first communion and was confirmed. What the heck is different?

ok say your above answer about the foccus test, i guess ill find out soon about it hahaha.

yeah thats one thing that does bother me, its like let FH and i decide this not make us sign a paper saying we HAVE to do it, i am so opinionated when it comes to all this and im afraid its going to come out in the fact thats its interfaith pre-cana bc i think they ask 'so what are you going to raise kids, catholic?' i mean does it matter, are my kids not good if they wont be baptized catholic? i strongly believe in god but have some issues with organized religion. I mean id like to even let my kids learn about all religions of the world but yeah maybe i should keep this part to myself lol

Yeah, let us know about FOCCUS because we don't go to til February lol.

Yeah, it really irks me too. Seriously, why does it matter so much? If we got married in a lutheran church they wouldn't be bombarding us with this stuff and say we must raise them lutheran. I'm like BACK OFF lol. Let us make the decision. I hate when people tell me what to do lol

im looking forward to the relationship part of pre-cana but the religion part im gonna have to try hard to keep my mouth shut, although i can word things nicely lol. Well at least Fh cant complain to me about pre-cana bc its like hey youre the one who is catholic and im getting married in a catholic church for you so not my problem this is all you lol. What if you tell them we'd like to discuss this further before we make any quick decisions about what to baptize our kids, would we not be able to get married there? lol

I love that this went for me asking about pre cana to trannys.

So far I'm 3 weeks into pre-cana, and its 99% about relationships. You do a prayer in the beginning, but they're the readings that you have to choose from for your ceremony. Next week the topic is sex!! Ugh not looking forward to that!
