for those who have completed their pre cana, I have a question for you.
I met with the priest this morning and we are aware we need to take the FOCUS 'exam' and the pre cana. However, our church (St. Joseph's of Garden City) does NOT offer pre cana at their church, so our priest referred us to the Rockville Diocese.
I noticed on the website, the fee for the FOCUS and precana is $300. I know this is EXPENSIVE when I heard people pay half this.
Now, would I be able to go to another church to take the pre cana? if so, please recommend any churches you ladies have done this at, and if you are able to take it on weekends (thats the only time we can do this).
Thank you!!

Re: Pre Cana Question
Our Lady of Lourdes in Massapequa does a one-day pre-cana on Saturdays. If you call them up they will send you an application with the dates they have it- only $100 too.

Re: Pre Cana Question
I went through Good Shepard in Holbrook and I didn't pay a dime for focus of pre-cana For pre-cana you have to meet Sunday nights and then for Focus you meet 2 times and you get to choose from a couple of dates.

Re: Pre Cana Question
If you don't mind going to queens or brooklyn you could sign up for one of the pre-canas through the brooklyn diocese. It costs $200 and some of the locations in queens are less 30 minutes from gc. We did ours at the one in douglaston and liked it. http://www.pre-cana.org/index-en.htm

Re: Pre Cana Question
you don't have to complete pre cana in your local parish, you can go to any parish that is convenient for you! we didn't have to take the focus test and just for the pre cana we paid $200
