Re: pre cana question
I think there is the option of doing a full weekend or one day pre-cana, not completely sure though. I'm not sure about anywhere else, but I was told that in Brooklyn pre-cana is $200.

Re: pre cana question
I live in Eastern Suffolk and pre cana for us is $75.
I'm worried about FH's schedule too. He rotates as well (every 8 weeks) and is on overnights right now. If he gets stuck with the 3-11 shift, I don't know what we're going to do.

Re: pre cana question
We did pre cana in one day --- saturday from 8:30-6:00 (you leave after 5pm mass and you have to stay in order to get the certificate).
It was $100 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Massapequa Park and it was the cheapest I could find that would take us. They welcome non-parishoners and its painless. Def recommend it!!

Re: pre cana question
We had to to interfaith Pre-Cana. And since there aren't that many around and FH and I just moved in together, he was living in CT, and I've been on LI. So we wound up at the Diocese of Brooklyn Pre-Cana.
Our Pre-Cana was in Douglaston, a little over a week ago. Friday night 7:30-9:30 and Saturday 9-5 and each day ended a bit earlier than it was supposed to. It was $200, and they serve lunch (meatballs & pasta in red sauce, which FH and I didn't eat - we're really picky eaters).
I've heard that some places charge as much as $300 for Pre-Cana.
If you go the that website, it asks you to put in your info, you can check they might have non-interfatih weekend sessions.

Re: pre cana question
Our parish did pre-cana every monday evening for 6 weeks. I don't know what the cost was, but we were doing long distance at that time, so we went through the Diocese of RVC and are doing a weekend one at the retreat center in Uniondale. It was expensive though, about $300.

Re: pre cana question
DH and I did an online course which was accepted by the diocese that we were married in upstate. You would need to check if it is accepted where you are getting married. It was the best option for us because our church here on LI was booked up so we would have had to go to a wk end long retreat and it would have been a lot of $. It was a good course and wasn't a lot of work and it's nice that you can do it in your own time. I think we paid like $150 when we did it which was a huge savings compared to the retreat. Here is the website if you are interested... link Best of luck!

Re: pre cana question
Ours was $75 at Maria Regina. We did it 1 time a week, 2 hours for 4 weeks. We went with 2 other engaged couples to the precana couples' house and went through the notebooks and talked for the 2 hours.

We did pre-cana and paid $75 at St. Patrick in Bay Shore since we are getting married at St. Anne's in Brentwood.
we also went to St Patrick in Bay Shore. It was $75 & we did it in a weekend. Sat 8:30-4:30 & Sun 8:30-1:00. All food was included & they did a very good job. From what I hear they are no longer doing it for people not getting married in their church. We did ours in Feb 2011.
Alot of places offer week day OR weekends. I have found a wide range in prices too. Anywhere from $200-$75!
