...and for the nest three Tuesday evenings. FH and I are a little nervous, because we know family planning is going to be discussed, and we don't want children. I know it's considered a sin to marry without the intention of procreation, but FH remindeed me that these are man-made laws and that the One who really matters just wants people to be happy.

Re: Pre Cana st
We just finished pre-cana. It honestly wasn't bad at all. We went to St. Matthews and they were so wonderful! Everyone gets a book and they discuss the chapter and then you and FH do questions at end of chapter privately just the two of you. You don't show anyone you answers it is supposed to help you compare your thoughts on different things. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions. Don't be nervous!

We're on our last class of PreCana and it wasn't awful. I don't know how other classes are but there wasn't any interaction from anyone in our class. We basically listened to the presenters speak the entire time.

Re: Pre Cana st
We completed our Pre-Cana in Brooklyn last month, did the 3 Tuesday classes. I wouldn't be nervous about this, they discuss family planning but do not ask you personal questions. In ours we listened to the host speak and otherwise did exercises from the workbook they give you. The workbook they just had us separate and answer questions and just FH and I come back together and discuss & compare our answers.

Don't be nervous. Although I haven't taken it yet I have heard it's not that bad. I have heard it's more couple related stuff than potential children.

Re: Pre Cana st
I loved my pre-cana classes! It was 6 sessions and they were all great. They did talk about family planning but it wasn't like a huge topic that took forever. I really enjoyed the experience because I learned more about FH's past with his family and what we want for our own family too! Good luck!

Re: Pre Cana st
Just came back from the first class. It wasn't at all what I'd feared: the married couple spoke to us and had the couples break and fill out activities from the workbook. They are so funny! The husband, who is also a Deacon, said that he loves Facebook, but that we have to keep the iPads and Iphones away from the bedroom when we are intimate. Lol

Just don't say anything and play along. Thats the easiest way to get through it.

Yeah. FH and I were snickering during the whole sexuality questionnaire because it asks if you've ever participated in a whole bunch of things...
But no one asks you your intentions. They tell you what the church thinks, and then you discuss your answers with FH.
They can't kick you out of pre-cana for not wanting kids. But when discussing things privately with your priest, simply say 'we do not want kids right now'.
