pre marital counseling?

Anyone do this on their own if it wasn't required (or if you werent getting married in a church and doing pre-cana)?

FMIL thinks it would be a great idea for us to do... hadn't thought of it before actually...

my fi and i had counseling about a year into dating... we were having trouble communicating..adn honestly..... it was THE BEST THING EVER!!!
not to say its not hard..but we got to understand each other on a deeper level... and how to fight fair.. how to acknowledge the others feelings even if you dont agree on a particular subject.

i would recommend it for anyone. of course , alot depends on the counselor you see..but it rocks!!!
