Pre-Marriage? (Modern Bride, anyone read it?)

Did anyone see the article in Modern Bride on Pre-Marriage? It was talkign about how couples get married in 'secret' BEFORE the wedding, to take off stress of the big day! they said how it makes thinks like What color Linens seem so trival if you're already Husband and Wife...

I SOOOOOOOOOo want to do this! i'm trying to convince FH! I just want it over with already!!!

What are your thoughts?

i think that sounds awesome!
i mean.. if you have the money go to vegas or something this way ytou can still get all dressy and stuff... if you want to.

i like this idea b/c you can have the whole Hoorah with the family and friends..... but you can also have a very intimate moment with JUST you and your FH...

GO FOR IT!!!!!!

I know of a couple who did this in May. NY wedding with only 2 - 4 people and wedding and ceremony in the Bahamas (the bride's home town) with about 80 guests.

She said it did take the pressure off - but only of the legal requirements for a wedding out of the country. She was worried she couldnot conform to the requirements for the Bahamas with just flying down for a couple of days then taking the honeymoon cruise.

nah, i don't like it. if you want a small wedding do a small wedding if you want a big one do a big one. Stress is part of the package with planning a wedding. you deal with it and just try to enjoy it.

My grandparents were secretly married first, because they had no choice. My grandmother's mother hated my grandfather and forbid them to marry!! The odd thing is, her father loved him? Too make a long story short she married him anyway and was kicked out of her house, clothes thrown out and all when her mother found out...my grandfather came to her rescue and took her to his home with his parents...were they lived for about a month until for whatever reason her mother accepted their marriage and they were able to have a big family wedding
I absolutely love that story...it's sounds like something from a movie.. can't believe my grandparents had such a romantic wedding story

My FSIL did this - they were so happy they did! I think it was for insurance purposes.

She said it did not take away from the feeling she had at the alter - she was moved to tears and loved every minute of 'recommitting' herself to her husband - and no one knew until after the fact they had been married almost a year!!!

yeah, that is what I wanted... a nice intimate moment that just the 2 of us share, and then we can celebrate with our friends and family on August 5th.

It would be just a private ceremony for the 2 of us, and we would keep the Aug 5 date as our 'anniversary' and Bunny Monkey, like you said, it would be like a re-dedication of our commitment to each other!

i just feel like I want someitng that JUST the 2 of us share... and BE MARRIED ALREADy!!!! the wait is driving me nuts.
