neither of us are coming into this with money or houses or anything, so we're not going to do one

Re: Pre-Nup
I was actually thinking this might have been a good QOTD for tomorrow LOL. I'll have to come up with something else!
But I don't think we really need a pre-nup. Financially we are both almost in the same place so it doesn't make a difference.

Re: Pre-Nup
FH's financial advisor actually insisted that he set up one. FH was the soul beneficiary of his dads life insurance so he came out with a large sum of money. However we are not going to do one. We both have each other listed on our 401k plans as well as on various mutual funds & cd's. we will be together 10 years by the time we say 'I Do' & we both feel that its really not necessary. we signed our own life insurance policy the other day & FH's financial advisor was a little unhappy with him.

Re: Pre-Nup
We are both equal so if we failed then we would each leave with half of what we came in with.

Re: Pre-Nup
I might. I'm going into this marriage with a house. And he has two kids. My intention isnt to 'screw anyone over' but we may make some agreement before we walk down the aisle. We shall see...

Re: Pre-Nup
i thought you need to have some big assets to need one, like a house or boat or large amount of money. we have none of teh above so we dont need one lol. i might need one for his dvds...he's very possesive of them lol

i did a little reading & a pre nup is not only for big assets. you can actually put anything you want on it. so yes he would be able to say that he wants his dvds. but you can also say how you want things to be divided amongst your children & you can even say that you want your children to grow up as catholics or any other religion.

Re: Pre-Nup
We have no need. Know there is always the possibility of a divorce, but have always felt pre-nups are the pink elephant sitting in the room saying hey, this could end at any minute.

Re: Pre-Nup
Definitely getting one! Everyone needs to protect themselves. Granted it's not the most 'comfortable' topic to talk about, it is necessary if either of you have any assets.
