Pre Wedding Pampering

Pre Wedding Pampering

OK so who's doing what?? Let's trade beauty secrets girls!

I've kicked it into high gear since last week. We are at the final countdown!

. Here's where I'm currently at:

Teeth whitening (started a week ago, have 1 more week to go)
No carbs after 4 (I know I'm a little psycho)
No caffeine besides coffee in the morning
All water all the time
Watching the salt/sodium
No soda
No alcohol
Got eyebrow/lip wax & facial yesterday

When I'm at the 1 week countdown:

Get my hair colored (sorry, I'm not a natural blonde)
Finish teeth bleaching
Get body scrub/treatment at spa
Continue eating/drinking pattern
Limit fiber intake (to avoid bloating, and or running to the bathroom due to nerves-sorry if that's TMI)
Trying to sleep!

I know this all sounds a little OCD, but after reading all these great tips in magazines (plus for what I do for a living) I figured it may help some girls.

xoxo
Jen

Re: Pre Wedding Pampering

About 2 weeks before the big day I started whitening my teeth at home (beauty secret!!!! -- if you swish with Maalox first, it makes the whitening 10x more effective! A secret from a dentist friend! turns the inside of the mouth from acidic to basic, therefore the whitening works much faster.)

I got a facial about a week and a half before, and had my eyebrows threaded about 4 days before the wedding. I'd wanted to get my entire body waxed beforehand but couldn't find the time. I had my hair colored exactly a week before.

I also tried to avoid salt and caffeine. One thing that made me feel great, though, was I made a point to eat a LOT of fresh fruit. Oh, and even though I'm not a breakfast person, I forced myself to eat a healthy breakfast every day the week before.... things like egg whites and whole wheat toast. That way I wasn't a cranky starving bride in the afternoon!

Just a tip...staying away from fiber can actually make you MORE bloated and puffy

I'm loving this Maalox tip!! I'll be sure to pick some up before I start my whitening!!!

I'm also going to be sure to do a deep exfoliation on my face a day or two before the wedding. I find that my makeup looks more even on smoother skin (although with airbrushed makeup just about ANY skin will look amazing!!)

Oh I almost forgot.. I'm going to start a good Smart Mouth regime about a week before. Smart Mouth makes a mouth wash and toothpaste that prevent bad breath. This stuff is really works, but it leaves a funny after taste so I don't use it regularly. I figure I'll be kissing so many guests hello (not to mention FH) and will not be thinking about chewing gum that I'll take some precautions in case!!

Once October starts I'm going to stop drinking anything except for water and green tea. Probably more sessions than usual with my trainer although I don't know if that's possible due to timing.

Definitely going to try that maalox tip, the white strips don't really cut it for me since I'm such a big coffee drinker.

I totally do this and have turned a few friends onto it, but I JUST read in a magazine that it causes frown lines

Re: Pre Wedding Pampering

My hair person said to use way less conditioner. I color my hair so I totally have to condition, but she said it weighs it down and might make your bridal style less likely to stay that day. She suggested using Sebastian 9 instead of conditioner. Worth a shot?

I'm also going to start whitening soon!

So I've been thinking about the facials. How far in advance should I do them? I've only gotten one before and it really dried out my skin??

Re: Pre Wedding Pampering

Jen your routine sounds great!! I would definitely suggest to eat fiber though, especially diuretic veggies like celery and apples, leafy greens like spinach and dark lettuces. Fiber can help you shed bloat and keep your organs clear of all sorts of backed up grossness. I would also drink your coffee through a straw so as not to turn back any of the teeth whitening you're doing.

I would highly, highly recommend getting a facial at Mario Badescu on 52nd Street. They are the absolute BEST in the city. There is one specialist who is the best, she's been there for years. That's who I saw, I'll get you her name, I can't remember right now. I had a basic facial and Vitamin C masque. It only cost $108 after tax. I found that a steal. She assessed my skin and suggested I add the masque which was awesome! I did this on the Sunday before my Friday wedding.

I would also recommend waxing your underarms the day before or even a couple of days before. It doesn't grow back for like a week, and no stubble! I get waxed at Bliss Soho and see Sonya P. She is the best waxer I've ever had in the States. Good luck!! I can't believe it's so soon!
