Hi ladies! Just wondering if anyone who has already gone through precana can let me know what exactly happens there. My FH and I start in two weeks and I'm just clueless on what to expect. If anyone could let me know what they did in their precana I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much!

FH and I have only done focus so far. The fall 'class' of pre-cana didnt work with our work schedules so were going to wait till the winter session.

Re: Precana
We absolutely loved Pre-Cana.
Ours was an evening and a full day I believe.
The evening was just a prayer service in the chapel and we were asked to write letters to each other.
During the day session we discussed various topics and issues you might have in marriage. We had to fill out worksheets. One of the was on our last fight. THen we went to discuss them together (NOT with the group, only with each other),and then we'd come together and the leaders would kind of sum it up and talk about how to handle fighting in marriage. One was about household chores. I don't remember the others.
In the afternoon we went into an auditorium and we watched a video on natural family planning and the leaders discussed it. Then I remember we did an activity about how we felt about marriage and how many kids we wanted to have, again ONLY sharing with each other. At the very end, we were to go to a secluded area and read the letters we had written the night before to each other.
I felt it made us feel really close to one another and we enjoyed that time away from all of the stress and demands of wedding planning, etc to just focus on us

Re: Precana
according to our schedule, we were told first meeting was in the rectory on sunday night for 2 hrs, then there would be four more sessions on sunday nights, potentially not consecutive sundays for about 2 hrs each

Precana
We did Pre-Cana in the Spring, once a week for 4 weeks. The first night we met our 'teachers' & the other 3 couples in the church. The next 3 weeks were spent once a week in one of the 'couple teachers' houses. It was really nice! We had snacks & drinks and there was a specific topic that was discussed for that night and were able to hear each of the couple's experiences with that particular topic. We never felt like anything was shoved down our throats, it was a relaxed, casual atmosphere each week. & at the end you have a 'graduation' mass where the engaged couples are recognized by the priest and presented certificates of completion. Honestly, the reason we did it so early was because we were looking to get it over with, but we learned a lot and I would totally do it again!!

I just signed up online for pre-cana yesterday...I am waiting for us to get our dates emailed to us. I picked either Jan or March dates. I am doing the weekend one-just want to get it out of the way! It's 9-4 sat and sun.

I was torn between doing the weekend or doing the 6 weeks at my church. It was either drive 25 minutes for 5 weeks on a Tuesday for a 2 hour class ($75) or sacrifice a whole weekend 9-4 for $300+ at some random church. We ended up going with our church!
