It starts tonight for 5 weeks, 2 hours a night. We both really wanted to do it all in a 1 day thing, but it unfortunately didn't work out that way as hard as I tried to find a place to go...
We have to go to someone's house...FH and I aren't excited at all lol.....
Everyone says it's really not bad...do we like have a book we follow, or just a lot of discussion?
And are they going to ask if we live together? Are having sex? What?? Ahhhhhh!
I feel like it may be awkward and uncomfortable? I hope I'm wrong

Re: Precana tonight
I did it in a little different setting, We had two full 8 hr days with about 30 couples but i had all the same reservations about it as you are having. I ended up loving it so much! as dorky as that sounds. We had a book to follow, a lot of discussions open to the whole group and alot just between FH and I. They didnt ask us if we lived together or have premarital sex or anything like that.
I am not sure how the smaller group setting is but i know they didnt force us to participate outloud or share stories you didnt feel comfortable talking about.
Dont worry, its really not bad at all, it is actually a really nice expierence. It really brings up a lot of topics you normally wouldnt think to talk about with FH.

Ours was one night and a full day and it was more of like if this happened, what you would do or what could you do to compromise, communicate, etc...

Well ladies, what should I expect?

mine didnt ask if we were living together or having sex. they didnt want to know. but at the end of the class, they did give us a list of 'catholic' birth control methods to follow
i actually really enjoyed pre cana. you get to talk to other couples who are getting married soon. the only thing id say that was somewhat uncomfortable is that you do share most info you talk about with the other couples (e.g. what do you love most about your FH, what would you change about your FH, etc.)

Re: Precana tonight
I loved Precana. FH and I are very devoted to our religion so to us, precana was going to make us or break us. (we had many issues the week before) We were at a breaking point. Pre cana opened our eyes and made us aware of eachothers feelings and concerns, beliefs, traditions. I mean its not like we didnt know eachother before but it got us closer together...
at the end fh said 'I didn't know you felt that away'
we also had to write a love letter to eachother which i loved and we both cried like babies lol
anyway, it was a real eye opener
they didnt ask about premarital sex or living together...they did say that everyone should try being abstinent until their wedding in which everyone laughed and Fh and I felt akward and silent since we've practiced abstinence and waiting until 10.30.11 lol
it was a nice experience overall and I think you will enjoy it!

Re: Precana tonight
We had handouts every week and question/ answer sheets. They played alot of games , they did these ones where you would sit back to back and had 2 cards one meant yes and one meant no, they would ask a question like ' I can go out on weekends after we get married with my friends' etc, you would raise your card and see what FH said- very interesting! It was actually good it showed us how in sync we are with each other, some corny stuff but you may be surprised. Oh & they didn't ask about sex or living together- they did have a topic on marital relations and how you should be generous with your love and not hold back lol that was an awkward class!

Re: Precana tonight
We did the same type of precana as you. 5 weeks, 2 hours at a time at someone's house. We LOVED LOVED LOVED it. The couple who held precana was awesome. It was like couples therapy, but you are only happy and telling each other how much you love each other. It's fun!!

Re: Precana tonight
Thanks ladies! I know I'm probably nervous for absolutely nothing. It's great to hear you all had such positive experiences! It's funny, it's really only the thought of being in some strangers house with a bunch of other strangers that I find a little weird. I keep thinking of religion class when I was in 8th grade--we went to a house every week
I'm sure it will be a good experience though....I was really curious if they pry into your personal life....good to hear that it's not like that.
Thank you

how did it go????
Aww thanks for asking!
It definitely was ok...not painful! I could tell all of us felt a tad awkward and uncomfortable, but it got better as the session went on. The couple running it is really nice, and they lived together before they got married ( ) so they weren't trying to like tell us what they think we should be doing. I'm a little weirded out by all the sharing but that's more on me and it's my thing than anything else.
The only thing I really hated in the beggining was you go around the circle and tell a little about yourself....and we did the circle thing for a lot of questions....I felt like I was back in school waiting for my turn....haha I HATE THAT! I felt my heart pounding, all nervous for really no good reason. FH said in the car that he felt the exact same way I told him we're two peas in a pod!
But all in all not bad....I didn't feel like we got into the nitty gritty or learned really anything about each other yet, but it was only the first session.
