We're getting married in September--when should we start precana???

Ask your priest. We had to go once a month for six months.

Your priest should let you know. We are getting married in Aug and they gave us a choice of Jan or April. (1x week- 6 weeks) We chose January.

OMG November! You couldn't knock it out in one day? That all day Saturday thing? I kind of want to go to Engaged Encounter but FH isn't real keen on that idea. The whole pre-cana thing makes him antsy.

Every church is different. Some people go away for a weekend retreat. We had to go once a month for 6 months because thats what our priest told us. Some people get offered a choice. It wasn't that bad.

I'm getting married in Sept also. I asked my priest that last week - he said to sign up soon, b/c there is no reason to wait and put it off since we know the date. He said he has seen people wait and then get overwhelmed with other things and are frantic at the last minute. I am going to find a break in my planning and do it them (probably in the early Spring).

Our parrish offers pre-cana twice a year & we couldn't get into the one in March, so we just finished ... our wedding is in Dec!! We went once a week for 4 weeks in someone's home ... not church. It's really not that bad.

My priest said the same thing - go ASAP. People are crazy the last few weeks before, plus if any issues come up, you'll have plenty of time to resolve them.

I also wanted to do the Engaged Encouner weekend. FI put his foot down when the priest said we would be sleeping in two different buildings

Our priest basically told us he didn't care when or where we did it (we are getting married in Diocese of Rockville Centre and live in Diocese of Brooklyn), as long as we got it done. Our priest is also our 'second' priest - backup, if you will, b/c FH's great uncle is an 84 yr old retired Monsignor and will be perfoming our ceremony. Since he is retired, he is basically showing up the day of the wedding and performing the service - the 'backup' priest is our nuts and bolts guy.

St Kilians, Farmingdale--It would've been crazy if we were at the same church. I have been putting off calling the church about precana.

Hi, I'm not sure it really matters... I'm getting married next October and my church has already contacted me about it... I'm probably not going to start until a few months before my wedding...

Our priest told us to go ASAP as well....

We are getting married in September, and we're doing Pre-Cana on Dec. 14th. It was a day we were both free, and we wanted to get it out of the way.

I also think its best to get it out of the way. The closer it gets to the wedding, the more you have to do.

call your church and ask when the next one is and go and get it out of the way.

My FH and I are getting married in November 2003, and I will be moving in January to Florida where my FH lives, and we check out the church near him and we signed up for March 15, it's one day and on a Saturday.
