prednisone

I just started taking prednisone. Is anyone out there that is on it?? What side effects do you have from it??

I will have to on it for at least two years!!

I have been on high doses in the past to control my asthma. The side effect that bothered me the most had to do with my appetite. I was contstantly hungry.

You may also find that you have some insomnia and some breakouts. I did have those things the first time, but as I got used to them (I was on this stuff often) the side effects lessened as I got used to the stuff.

You might want to ask your doctor if you should be taking some kind of calcium with it - my grandmother (in her late 70s) is now dealing with osteoporosis (sp?) which the dr said is a side effect of prednisone, she's been on it for years.
There was also weight gain, she was always hungry

My FH has to take it sometimes. With him, he gets very hungry and very hyper.

I've had to take small doses for short periods of time, but I never felt any real side effects.

increased appietite... tired...

best advice during this time (if you can) still physically active and keep healty foods around you. Weight gain is natural during this periord cause of the increase appietitie.

try not to stay on it for very long....
