Our boards are so slow and there are so many preggo 06'ers so here is my Q:
Ok so I relax my hair every 2-3 months and was curious to know if you are allowed to get your hair relaxed when your are pregnant. I know you cant die it so I wanted to know if the same rule applies.
No I am not preggo or even TTC, just a random question from a bored lady.

softened Betsy. I don't think you could get it relaxed being that those chemicals are more intense then hair dye. Not 100% SURE though

Re: Pregnancy and Relaxed Hair
I would check with your doctor but Im pretty sure thats a no no since you're applying chemicals directly onto your head and it has contact with your scalp.
I get highlights and my doctor said that highlights are ok but would not recommend having them done for the first 3 months, afterwards is safe. Hair dye (an all over color) is a nonononono.

My SIL is a hair dye FREAK and she dyed her hair ALL through her pregnancy. Doctor's probably won't be thrilled about it, but mine said as long as the salon is well-ventilated, it really would be ok.
Some books are SO strict. They say not to even use face wash!!

Re: Pregnancy and Relaxed Hair
My OB said I could dye my hair, even in the 1st trimester. He said that Doc's say no in 1st trimester because that is the standard answer, but there is no studies that have ever shown it is harmful. I assume relaxers are the same, but I would ask my Doc.

It actually all depends on your sensitivity. Since your skin becomes more sensitive during pregnancy you may want to do a skin patch test to make sure nothing happens. Since allergic reactions can happen even after years of use-
